Isa 7:10~16 Immanuel Subject: 13. Immanuel 2005. 12. 25.
◎ Introduction
: In spite of King Ahaz's disbelief, God gives the word again.
※ King Ahaz’ unbelief was feared by the combined attack of Ammon and Israel, so God sent his son “Sheal-ashub”
Send him to stand firm in the faith only that the two nations will not succeed, but Ahab believed the word.
I can't, and I try to deal with my own thoughts
※ Despite King Ahaz's disbelief, God gives the word again.
: It was a confirmation of God's faithful love for the “house of David.”
※ The sign of “Immanuel” goes beyond the simple reality, and the fact that it contains “messian meaning”.
One). Background of the sign of Immanuel (Isaiah 7:10-13)
2). The Lord Himself Gives the Sign of Immanuel (14-16)
◎1. Background of the Immanuel Omen (10-13)
One). Background: Two kings of Ammon and Israel unite to attack King Ahaz (Judah) (Introduction)
2). Jehovah: Ask King Ahaz to ask for a sign (10-11)
※ It means that you did not trust the first word given “to Ahaz.”
The first word is: God will send his son “Sheal-asup” to prevent the two nations from succeeding.
“Stand steadfast in the faith alone.”
※ “Ask for a sign from the LORD your God, and ask…” (11)
① “sign” refers to all kinds of practical evidence of God’s power (natural, supernatural).
② “Deep” means the underworld.
③ “High” means the heavenly world.
※ No matter what signs you ask for, you will be answered, and this means that you will show the power of God.
3). King Ahaz: Refusing to seek omens (12)
※ “I will not ask. I will not put the Lord to the test” (12).
: At first glance, this seems like a very pious answer, but it is hypocrisy that conceals unbelief.
※ Not according to God's word, but by asking the powerful army King Aturu for help to defeat it.
God Test
(One). What is the act of testing God?
※ Even though the Israelites who left Egypt saw the clear evidence of God's power,
The thought of believing is the act of asking for evidence without the slightest bit of evidence. (Ex 17:7, Matthew 4:7-Jesus Test)
(2). Which of the following is not a test of God?
※ When God asks you to save. Or when God wants to give a sign to people according to the need,
It is not a test of God for man to seek it. It is faith without doubt.
(Judges 6:14, 17-18, 38-40, Gideon's repeated prayer)
Meditation: Asking God’s will with your own plans is not an attitude of faith.
It is really just a formal process for doing things according to one's plan, "irrespective of God's will."
A true believer should seek only “God's plan and will.” (Matthew 12:50, Luke 22:42)
(Let's find it and read it: Excluding Christmas)
4). Isaiah: rebuking King Ahaz (13)
※ The prophet Isaiah, who saw through all the hypocrisy and unbelief of Ahaz, rebuked King Ahaz.
※ “House of David, I beg you… Do you want my God to suffer?” (13)
※ “House of David” He showed undeserved grace to King Ahaz of Judah, who was a descendant of David.
By rejecting the Word, God's wrath was aroused.
※ “Trouble” makes the other person very tired and tired, reaching the limit of the other person's patience.
◎2. The Lord Himself Gives the Sign of Immanuel (14-16)
※ Despite King Ahaz's rejection of God, God Himself gave the "House of David" (the people of the covenant) "Immanuel"
gave a sign
※ The sign of Immanuel is
① Future events that will take place in the New Testament Age
② The matter related to King Ahaz is profoundly connected.
Because the prophecies are compounded, the fulfillment is also compounded.
One). Signs from the Lord Himself (14-15)
① “Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son” refers to the birth of the Messiah by a virgin.
; Matthew understood this prophecy to be fulfilled regarding the conception of Jesus by Mary under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18-23)
② “I shall call his name Immanuel”
※ “Immanuel” means “God is with us” (Matthew 1:23)
2). When the sign will be fulfilled (16)
※ “Before this child forsakes evil and knows how to choose good”. (15)
① It means that the sign of Immanuel will come soon.
② The two kings of the north will be destroyed. (Aram and Israel)
※ In fact, after 12~13 years, Syria and Israel were attacked by Assyria and completely destroyed.
In 722 B.C., Samaria was finally captured by Sargon II, king of Assyria.
