Title: Isaac's Prayer
The text records how Isaac prayed to God to have a son and was answered. we are here
Compared to other patriarchs, Isaac's outstanding faith is found, which seems relatively ordinary.
His faith was quiet and powerful.
1. Rebekah barren (21).
This was a very difficult test for Isaac. He got married at the age of 40, the age of nine. But there was no son for 20 years (26). Isn't he the one who was promised that his seed "will multiply like the stars in the sky and like the dust of the earth"! Abraham's second wife Geturah had 6 brothers and was prospering even with grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren (1-4), and Ishmael already had 12 brothers and made 12 princes. (12-16). But Isaac had no children until the age of 60, so what a frustrating test it must have been.
2. Isaac praying.
Therefore, it is not an easy passage to think of when Isaac said, “I prayed to the Lord for him.
Indeed, it shows that Isaac endured 20 years and prayed to God only for the promised son.
Abraham could not bear it for 10 years, so he obtained a first child and gave birth to Ishmael (16:3). But Isaac did not take his own way. How beautiful is this kind of faith? (Compare, 1 Samuel 1:12)
3. Isaac answered.
In the end, Isaac's persistent prayer of faith was answered. Indeed, 20 years was a period of training in faith.
The patience of faith must receive the promises of God (Hebrews 6:14,15;10:36).
Also, God's answers are more abundant than people want and expect.
A twin son was granted to Isaac, who had been praying for him because he had no son.
values in
Isaac's sons Esau and Jacob, despite being twin brothers, were different and contrasting in many ways.
In particular, their differences in values were enough to lead their lives to completely different results.
1. Esau and Jacob (27).
As they grew up, their personalities and behaviors changed drastically. Esau became masculine and Jacob became feminine.
So Esau, by nature, always liked to go out. He was the only one who came home from hunger to death, and this became his fatal flaw. for he had no opportunity to receive the education and influence of pious parents. He became a caretaker for the nanny (26:34,35).
But Jacob had many such opportunities. He must have heard of God's promises from his parents
Realizing that dignity, he must have had the desire to inherit that promise somehow.
2. Esau's Values (29-33)
Material values were, of course, worldly and materialistic.
His greatest concern was food. He didn't care what it was, as long as it filled his stomach (30).
Therefore, of course, he did not care about the cause of the eldest son (32). He did not realize the preciousness of God's promise and took it lightly (34).
People with material values are not interested in the kingdom of God or spiritual matters.
3. Their results
Esau sold the precious faith of his ancestors for a bowl of red bean porridge and became a specter. (Hebrews 12:16-17)
However, although he used deceit and had a difficult life as a result, he was loved by God because of his earnest desire for God's blessing.
4. Prayer
Pray for the business saints and the lives of the saints to be victorious in the Word for a place.
