Title Isaac's Wedding/Genesis 24:61-67
Contents Today's text is Genesis 24. In Genesis 24, the wedding of Isaac is introduced. Isaac's wedding ceremony has various evangelical significances. Abraham's wife Sarah passed away, and Abraham now had an empty heart in his heart. After the funeral was over, I called the oldest servant, the most faithful of the many servants in the house, and asked me to do this. "Honey, I must marry my son Isaac, and I cannot marry the women of this land of Canaan where I live. So, let me go to my hometown, the land of Nahor, and find a virgin." He put his hand under the hip bone of Abraham's son and prayed the promised prayer.
"God, I am going to entrust my old servant with the marriage of his only son, Isaac. Now, when this servant goes, if the virgin follows in faith, this promise will come true. If the virgin does not follow because of doubts, we will take our son with us to our homeland. I will not go, so please make this null and void.” So, putting his hand under the hip bone, he made the promise to the old servant, and took ten camels, food for them, and a gift for the virgin and a gift for the virgin’s family. started off with At that time, some servants also went along with them. Finally, he goes to the well in front of the town of Nahor, sits all the camels, and at the well this old servant of Abraham offers a prayer.
“God, when I am going to choose a wife in this town for my master, Abraham’s son Isaac, when the virgin comes out with a water jar and comes up with water from the well -” Honey, I am thirsty. pour on me, so that I may drink some water." - So she asked me to drink water, and the maiden willingly - "I will make your weak and your servants drink water. “If you meet a virgin who says this, you will know that God has given her to you.” After praying and opening her eyes, a beautiful young woman came out to the well to draw water with a water jar.
So when he came up from the well with water, the old servant of Abraham, who was standing by the well, pointed to the virgin and said, "If you are thirsty, please pour water from the jar." And he said, "I will make your camels and servants also drink water." And when he saw that he drew water several times and made both the camels and his servants drink, he fell on his face and worshiped God and said, "God, it goes well." I thank you for answering me." Then he gave the girl a half shekel nose ring and a bracelet worth 13 shekels and 5 shekels, which she had brought with her. Then he said, "Whose daughter are you?" Hearing that she is the daughter of Buduel, the son of Nahor, he gave thanks to God and said, "Let the virgin enter our house. We have a barn where camels can stay, there are beans for camels to eat, and we have beans for them to eat." There are many rooms where you can rest, so why not go to my house?" So, when he went to the house and prepared food and was about to serve it, Abraham's servant stood up without sitting down and talked about what he had done.
So, after getting permission from Nahor's family, she stayed overnight, put Rebekah on a camel, said goodbye to her family, and set out on her way. Then she entered a desolate wilderness. Rebekah set off after listening to the old servant's words to meet a groom whom she had never seen before. After walking through the wilderness for a long time, at sunset, seeing a faint figure on the side of the setting sun, Rebekah said to her, "Who is walking toward us from before him?" ."Hani Rebekah got down, put makeup on her face again, put veil on her face, and the bridegroom and Saxie entered the room where their mother Sarah lived, and they had a happy marriage." This is the story of Genesis 24 today. In the text we can find three important events.
The first is the promise between Abraham and God. The promise between Abraham and God is in Genesis 12.
God said to Abraham, "Abraham, leave your country and your relatives." So Abraham left with his nephew Lot in the courtyard of Ur-Nahor in the Chaldeans. So we came to the promised land of Canaan. But now, when he was about to marry his son, the servant said, "Master, what kind of woman does not see the groom and believes only the words of this old man and follows him through the wilderness after only listening to this old man's story, can't he take his master's son?" The reason for "no" is given in Genesis 12. Today in this text, we see the absolute promise between Abraham and God that not only he or she keeps the command, "You must leave your homeland, your relatives, and your father's house," but even his own son leaves the land cleanly without any regrets. .
Also finds the blessed Rebekah. Blessings come only when you do things that deserve blessings. Salvation means 'I believe in Jesus my Savior. I believe that Jesus, the Son of God, died because of me.' If you just believe, you will be saved. However, to receive blessings, you have to do things that deserve them.
Second, he had the morality to serve a superior who treated the elderly with utmost respect. And I had a grateful heart to help not only people but also animals in times of need. And I asked her to go home. He was very generous in hospitality, saying, "There is density that ten camels can eat, there is a group, and there are beans. And since we have a lot of rooms, we also have a room where you can all sleep, so please go to my house." That is why Rebekah was blessed because she was active in serving her superiors, and she had a good heart in her heart to help those in need. Also, there was a grateful heart to welcome the pilgrims, and this was a resource for Rebekah to receive great blessings.
But on the way, I saw the bridegroom from a distance, and at that time this Rebekah got off her camel and fixed her makeup. Today we have to fix the makeup when the groom here is far away. As it stands today, it is a revival meeting. So today we often have to fasten the collar, redo the hairstyle, and redecorate the makeup on the face when the groom will be seen from afar. This is how you should prepare to welcome the groom. So, when the groom was married, all the tiredness up to this point was gone, and a new family was established in the mother's well-prepared room, and the work of receiving great blessings took place. Hallelujah!
Today, we see the promise of absolute faith between Abraham and God and the other side of Rebekah's blessings here. We pray in the name of the Lord that you will become brides who can enjoy infinite joy together with Jesus the groom in the eternal heaven. Amen
