Isaiah 42:1~9 Wait for that lesson Topic: 13. Christ 2007. 6. 17.

Introduction

: God uses the Messiah, the servant of the Lord, as the mediator of the covenant and the light of the Gentiles, in the great plan of salvation for mankind.

you will achieve

The character and unique work shown in the text show that He is the Messiah without a doubt. The New Testament is quoted as applying to Jesus Christ.

1. The nature of Jehovah's servant (1~4)

2. The work of Jehovah's servants (5-9)

1. The nature of Jehovah's servant (1~4)

God directly introduces his servant.

“Slave (    Ebed)” includes the concept of a servant or slave, but is an honorable mention representing a special relationship with the master.

used as a title. It represents “the Messiah,” Jehovah’s servant.

One). It is a servant of God whom God “holds up”.

The meaning of “to hold onto” (tamaq) is “to support”. It's about helping you stay in top shape. Therefore, those who are possessed by God will not fail in carrying out their mission.

Jesus, the servant and Messiah of Jehovah, was deeply aware that he was possessed by God.

“He who sent me is with me; I have never left me alone” (John 8:29).

2). that God is the “chosen man” of God

“Rejoice” (   : Racha) refers to accepting with satisfaction. So the species is in all respects

He was satisfied with the heart of Jehovah God.

The Gospels apply to “Jesus Christ,” who is satisfactorily accepted in the heart of God.

“There is a voice from heaven . . . , my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

“...This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him...” (Matthew 17:5)

“Election” In the “covenant of redemption” made by the Holy Trinity for the redemption of mankind before creation,

It refers to the “chosen one” as a mediator between God and mankind (Matthew 3:16-17).

3). Those who “receive the Spirit of God” will do justice to the Gentiles.

God poured out “Spirit” on the chosen servant. (Luke 3:21-22, Luke 4:16-19)

“...the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove...” (Luke 3:21-22)

“Justice” (     : Mishpat) means a legally declared judgment. (In the old translation, it was called justice.)

: The judgment was already in Isaiah 41. The point of the judgment is that the idols of the nations are all vain

Only Jehovah God is the true Creator and Redeemer.

Jesus, the servant of Jehovah, has a mission to proclaim and realize that justice widely in the world.

Three aspects of giving justice to the Gentiles

① He carries out his mission quietly and humbly. (2) (Matthew 8:4, 9:30, John 5:13, 6:15)

② He is meek and faithful in carrying out his mission. (3)

③ He carries out his mission without being frustrated by any hardship. (4) (John 1:4~5, 12, 16, 3:34, 5:24, 6:35~36...)

2. The work of Jehovah's servants (5-9)

One). It is God who gave the mission. (5)

In the beginning, God created the heavens by speaking like a scroll. (Genesis 1:6-8)

“Spirit” (   : ruah) means “wind,” “breath,” and “Spirit,” meaning that He gave life.

2). The given mission - to be the covenant of the people and the light of the Gentiles. (6)

The servant becomes a “covenant mediator” between God and the people and has a mission to shine the light of salvation to all people.

will be in charge

Originally, it was given to Israel through the “covenant of the law”, but as Israel broke the covenant, it is now given to the servant as a “new covenant”. Therefore, in Jesus, we can become God's covenant people and hope for salvation.

God worked in four ways so that the servant could carry out his mission well.

① Called by righteousness: Righteousness is God's righteousness, which destroys enemies and saves his people.

② He took your hand: It means that you will hold on to it and make it stronger.

③ Protected: It will keep you safe from all evil forces that challenge you.

④ Established: It is to guide you so that you do not deviate from the path of your mission or stumble.

Today, we become God's people and receive salvation through the merits of Christ.

3). The work to be done - to shine. (7)

Say what it means to “light up” in three ways.

① To light the eyes of the blind.

: Physically practiced. The root is by opening the eyes of those who wander in darkness without realizing God and His Word.

will lead you to God.

② The prisoners will be brought out of prison.

: To set free those who are imprisoned in the prison of sin (slavery of sin)

③ Those who sit in darkness will come out of “Prison”.

: The word of truth will set those who are imprisoned in the darkness of ignorance.

4). Purpose of mission - to glorify God's glory (8)

The purpose is to make the saved people glorify and praise God.

5). The nature of the mission - something new (9)

The “new work” is based on the “new covenant” and refers to the redemptive work of mankind through Jesus, the Messiah, the servant of Jehovah who will come in the future.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

“Now I declare a new thing, even before it begins, I tell you.”

: It was before God began to work through His servant Messiah, but it was declared in advance to give the hope of great salvation to his people in despair.

Therefore, believers must put off the old and live anew as new creatures.

(John 3:3, Romans 6:6, 11, 8:5-6, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 4:22-24, Philippians 4:8, Col 3:9-10, 1 Peter 4:3, 2 Peter 1:9, 1 John 5:1)
