◎Genesis 2:1 ◎Explanation (25)- ‘It is finished’ and ‘It is finished’
Verse 1 of the text declares, “The heavens and the earth and all things came to pass.” This is a declaration of the completion of God's creative work. In particular, the word ‘finished’ here means ‘finished’ or ‘completed’, which means that God’s creative work has been completely accomplished according to God’s will, and there is no need to touch it anymore. We don't use the expression 'It's done' after doing something roughly. For example, next week is the midterm exam, so study a little and don't say "I'm done studying".
God is telling us that the creation of the heavens and the earth was created perfectly by using the expression “it is finished” to us in God’s work of creation. Indeed, God's creative work was perfect.
So let's look at the process leading up to perfection. Moving is usually not difficult. When moving from the current house to another house, you must first pack your luggage and call a moving center to move your luggage. Sometimes a move doesn't end in a day or two. Even after moving, there are times when you are not sure what to organize your luggage first, so you leave everything behind and sit blankly. However, if you take them out one by one and organize them one by one, the moment comes when things are all over. You can only rest when everything is going the way you want it to.
When God first created the world, it was chaotic and empty, and darkness was over the deep. It was like what it looked like after the flood had swept away, so I didn't know where to start. It's as if you've moved to a place no one has ever lived. There is nothing useful and nothing is in place. The whole house is dark because I took out all the light bulbs that I have. In a word, it's sad. However, there are times when everything is in order when you clean and organize it.
God created them one by one with the word. He made the sky and called it ‘heaven’. From then on, the heavens began to be governed by the laws of nature set by God. Before that, it wasn't heaven. It was a chaotic space. Also, God created the sea and named it ‘sea’. From that time on, the sea began to obey the general laws of nature. There was a certain tidal difference, and no matter how much he wanted to climb to the ground, he could not get over the sand. God made the sun, moon, and stars. From then on the sun, moon and stars began to obey the laws of nature. Also, God created numerous living things and made them survive and reproduce according to the laws of nature.
When God created the heavens and the earth at the end of this world, God restored the created world, which had lost its original beauty because of sin, by restoring it again with the power of His Word. It will be given to you to enjoy (Isa 11:6-9; 65:17-25). On the other hand, God's work of creation was perfect not only in the original creation, but also in the work of re-creation, which brought back to life the souls of men who were dead because of sin. In John 19:30, Jesus Christ, who participated in the creation work with God the Son, declared “It is finished” when he died on the cross. What does this mean? This was a declaration that the Lord's work of re-creation, the work of redemption, was completed through the death of mankind on the cross. This eliminates the need for man to have to do anything else to be saved. Man only needs to accept and receive Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, as his Savior (Romans 10:9).
Truly, God's work of creation, whether in the original creation or in the re-creation, was fulfilled without a single blemish, perfect and without any need for supplementation. This God will give us complete salvation and satisfied joy in the future.
This is the conclusion of today's sermon.
Today we looked at original creation and re-creation. What is original creation? Before human sin entered the world, God looked at all things that he created and said, ‘It is finished’. What is Reinvention? When the perfect principle of creation was cut off due to sin, Jesus Christ was sent to this earth to accomplish salvation for us on the cross on the cross. It is ‘It is finished’. Knowing the meaning of God's words of 'It is finished' and 'It is finished', which are the shame of perfection, for us, we too, in our lives, may you become the shame of perfection that pleases God, that is, you who live the best life in the name of the Lord. I declare.
