living faith
James 2:14-26
When speaking of a being, to say that it is alive is when it is possible to die and to be dead. It is not only applied to living things, but also to non-things as metaphorical expressions of life and death. James said, “As the body without the soul is dead, so faith without works is dead.” It is often thought that the faith emphasized in Romans and Hebrews and the works of James are opposed to each other, but rather, it is a word that complements each other and enhances perfection. And by taking the Old Testament characters as examples, we are redefining living faith.
definition of living faith
He said that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is the acceptance of the unseen as real, and saving faith is in contrast to the act of keeping what the law requires. If we misunderstand these truths, we will misunderstand that faith is essentially only an abstract concept, and that it is possible to have faith that leads to salvation without the fruit of action in life, that is, without concrete action. For example, in an unavoidable environment, the heart is not like that, but in reality, it is impossible to do so, so it denies Jesus. And it says: “The Lord knows the situation at that time....” The faith that James Apostle says is not only accepting God conceptually, but also obeying God’s will in a concrete way, and that obedience is not just words or thoughts. It means to show in concrete actions before God and man.
Faith is seen by works.
It specifically points out the falsity of outward beliefs that do not exist. Faith is demonstrated by love and by works.
division of belief
It can be seen that today's text divides faith into three categories. Dead faith, satanic faith, living faith, etc. The first dead faith. A dead faith cannot save itself (14) It is a false faith. Giving alms with the mouth, love with the mouth, peace and satiety with the mouth. Faith without works is itself dead faith. The second is satanic belief. Knowledge is knowing and believing what you know. Satan also said that he trembled in fear knowing that there is only one God. (19) There are some knowledge and theories, but if that knowledge does not accompany actions, then you are a different person.
