Word: Jeremiah 16:19-21
Title: Jeremiah's Prayer
Contents:
“Prayer” starts with Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, then Jacob’s prayer, Moses’ prayer, Jabez’s prayer, Hannah’s prayer, and Daniel’s prayer.
The text prophesies the fall and judgment of Judah, but then suddenly changes the subject, and the nations who worshiped idols will come back lamenting their sins and confess the futility of idolatry.
I sincerely hope that the history of such great reforms will abound in our homes in our country.
Jeremiah's prayer
Jeremiah's prayer begins with a confession of God.
God is already God, and who I believe in when I pray is important in prayer. In Matthew 16, the Lord asked his disciples to find out who people believe and follow me.
Jehovah is my strength
What is your strength? We sometimes say this when our shoulders are drooping. "cheer up!" Creator God is my strength. Jesus the Redeemer is my strength. The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is the source of my strength.
my guarantee
You are the guarantee of life. Who will guarantee my life? What guarantees my life?
You are the guarantee of life. What guarantees my life? Who is in charge of my life?
Judgment is guaranteed.
Refuge in the day of trouble
God is the refuge of my life. “Cry out in the day of trouble. I will answer you.”
Regrets and confessions of the nations
In verses 19 and 20, he confesses his regrets, saying, “How could I live by making a god that is not a god, since the management of life is nothing but futile, futile, and useless?”
God's Answer
God made Himself known.
God's power was revealed to the kingdom of Syria through Naaman, Egypt through Joseph, Babylon through Daniel, and Persia through Mordecai and Esther.
Through all these things, He said, “You will know that you are the Lord.”
