◎ Introduction
: Washing the feet of his disciples to effectively teach Jesus to never forget the truth that the way to glory is through service, not through position or power Shows what it means to be transferred to the heart.
1. The meaning of service (12~14)
2. Reason for serving (15~17)
3. Prophecy of betrayal (18-20)
1. The meaning of service (12~14)
※ “Do you know what I have done to you?” is the key question. What he did was that the Lord washed the disciples' feet. (1-12)
※ There is something that Jesus asked his disciples to do. (2 types)
One). A servant of Jesus is to serve Jesus as Lord and Teacher. (13)
※ “You are right when you say that I am a teacher or a lord. I am”
※ Jesus insisted, “A servant is not just a follower of Jesus.” He has no right to himself and must do what Jesus, the master, tells him.
※ The servant of Jesus should follow only Jesus Christ and not himself or the things of the world.
① You must not act according to your own judgment.
② Don't even do your own thing.
③ Do not pursue worldly things such as status, wealth, power, recognition, or honor.
(Romans 1:1, Acts 2:36, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Romans 14:9, 1 Corinthians 1:9, Col 1:18, John 12:26, Ephesians 6:6-7, Col 3:23-24)
2). The servant of Jesus is to serve, act, and lead the saints.
※ The servant of Jesus
* Serve other believers faithfully and sacrificially;
* Walk according to their pure confession of faith,
* We must lead them to be washed away from the dust of the world and become clean.
① A servant of Jesus is to serve others as Jesus met their needs by serving them with great humility. (Matthew 10:42, Mark 10:43-44, Luke 10:36-37, John 13:34, Gal 5:13, 6:2, 10)
② The servant of Jesus is to make others to be washed from the dust of this world and to cleanse them.
Their spiritual needs must be met by leading them to Jesus. (Matthew 20:28, John 20:21, 21:16, Isaiah 1:18)
2. Reason for serving (15~17)
※ There are three reasons for serving.
1) Because Jesus set the example. (15)
※ It can be easy to wash Jesus' feet, but it is difficult to wash other people's feet.
※ Is there anyone who is bothered by my willingness to wash my feet?
* Let's remember that Jesus washed Judas' feet (Matthew 16:24, Romans 15:5, Ephesians 5:1~2, Philippians 2:5, Col 3:12).
2) Because they are not as great as Jesus. (16)
※ It is because we are smaller than Jesus in ① personality and status ② mission and ministry.
※ For the same word, compare Matthew 10:24, Luke 6:40, John 15:20, Luke 22:26-27.
3) Because you get blessings by serving. (17)
※ If you do (serve) this, you will be blessed. Grammatically, the tense must continue to serve in its continuous usage.
(John 15:11, Matthew 11:29, John 7:17, 16:24, 17:13, Romans 14:17, 1 Pet 1:8, Isaiah 61:10, Jer 15:16)
3. Prophecy of betrayal (18-20)
One). There is the sorrow of betrayal. (18)
※ When Judas or someone else betrays the Lord, the Lord's heart is deeply wounded. Because you will lose a soul. Why are you heartbroken?
① A traitor is not someone chosen by Jesus. (Matthew 10:32-33)
* Jesus drew Judas, but Judas rejected the guiding power and power.
* When a person is led by the Spirit of God and becomes enlightened, he must respond right there. If you refuse, the attraction will soon disappear.
* Bottom line: If you betray Jesus and live in sin, he will be true to the working of the Holy Spirit who dwells in his heart.
It shows that they did not react harshly (Gen. 6:3, 2 Pet. 3:9).
② A traitor is the lowest class of people.
* Judas is eating with Jesus, but his heart has already betrayed him.
* To “betray” means to kick a horse by lifting its hoof.
* Judas kicked Jesus. inflicted a fatal blow.
* Judas rejected Christ by *disloyalty. * Rejecting Christ by insulting him.
* They despised and turned their backs on the love of Christ by betraying them. (John 12:4-8, Ephesians 5:5-6, Hebrews 2:2-3)
2). There was a prophecy of betrayal. (19~20)
※ Christ prophesied of the betrayal to strengthen the disciples and to convince them.
① He wanted to give strong assurance to the faith of the disciples who believed in him as the Messiah.
* When the prophecy is fulfilled, you will know that you are the Son of God with the essence of God.
② I want to convince you how precious it is to be called as a servant of God.
* Betrayal demoralizes the true disciples, and as Christ claims God's call and work,
Because it might make you think it's not that precious.
* Those who receive the Lord's messenger will receive the Lord, and those who receive the Lord will receive God.
do. (Romans 10:13, Revelation 3:20)
③ He wanted the disciples to be convinced of God's indwelling.
* Jesus regarded Himself as equal to God. His body is the temple of God.
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20, John 20:22, 2 Corinthians 4:7, John 17:21, 10:37-38, 14:10, 17:23, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
◎ Conclusion:
