Today, many heresies threaten the church in various ways. They try to tempt the saints with sweet words like honey and lead them astray. Judas warns the false prophets of judgment and at the same time exhorts the saints to fight the good fight against them in right faith.
1. The two evils (v. 4)
Judas speaks of “some men who came in secretly” in verse 4. This means that something evil is sneaking in. Heretics entered the church without anyone knowing, as if an enemy came quietly to sow a weed among the wheat. They did two evils. First, they distorted God's grace and turned it into blatant immorality. They were free to commit sins and immorality. God's grace has been turned into fornication. Second, they deny that the Lord is head and that He is Lord. He denied the incarnation of Jesus Christ.
Saints are people who fight the good fight, set apart from the people of the world. Therefore, we must fight against heresies with confidence in our salvation. Please be vigilant so that you do not fall into the temptations of heresy.
2. Fearful examples (vv. 5-7)
Judas gives some examples of the fact that false prophets will eventually be destroyed. First, the history of Israel. (Verse 5) The Israelites did not respond to God's promised land in front of them with faith, so they could not enter the promised land. The second example is the fallen angels (verse 6). The fallen angels left their heavenly dwellings in the days of Noah and came to earth to commit adultery with the daughters of men (Genesis 6:2). made it The third example is Sodom and Gomorrah (v. 7). Sodom and Gomorrah, the land of sexual immorality, were burned down without a trace on the earth as a result of Hanani's judgment. As we look at this main story, we must realize once again that God's judgment must come, and we must fight and overcome evil.
3. The irrational beast (verse 10)
The wicked criticized anything they did not understand. They slandered God's work that they could not understand. Because he did not belong to the Holy Spirit, he did not know the things of the Spirit. So they looked at spiritual things with cynicism and contempt. They pretend to be knowledgeable, but because they follow the wrong knowledge they have, they will eventually perish. The unrighteous can never escape the judgment of a just God. We must not be deceived by the words of those who will come to the judgment of destruction.
Believers should always be on the lookout for those who have been judged for their unbelief and be wary of falling into unbelief. In order not to fall into heresy, you should check your own faith status and always try to live by faith as a believer. For this, I hope that you will always do God's will by being filled with the Holy Spirit.
