Content Title: Watchman
Bible: Ezekiel 33:1-6
It is a metaphor for an old battlefield. If the two armies are facing each other like this, a war is about to begin soon, and at such a moment, an espionage war will take place. In the middle of the night, secret warfare takes place in order to get to know each other's opponents. At that time, the troops also have to sleep, so they have to sleep to get a good night's sleep. This watchman stands, awake and nervously waiting. The story of this watchman is the story of today, and we are the watchman. Let's think about the watchman, our mission, and our responsibilities.
First: was chosen.
“Son of man, speak to your people and say, ‘Son of man, I will bring a sword upon a land, and the people of that land will choose one of them to be a watchman’ (verse 2). As a watchman..." I make you a watchman for the house of Israel. The Son of Man, the Son of Man, refers to Ezekiel here, and broadly speaking, God's people and all of us Christians are watchmen. A watchman should be awake, even though he is normally thinking. Not awake and unable to stand guard. At the same time, you have to be awake, but not to be, and be insightful. You have to look good. And you have to be able to judge what you see.
Second: you must blow the trumpet.
“When the man saw that the sword was coming down on the land, he blew a trumpet to warn the people” (verse 3). The watchman blows his trumpet when something dangerous happens. If you don't blow the trumpet when it should be blown, that's a big deal. If that happens, the unit will simply be annihilated. Not only that, but if you say this watchman has fallen asleep, that's a big deal. The watchman is the one who blows the trumpet. So I warn you. But this doesn't end with a warning, what comes next? A promise is given.
Third: We must fulfill our responsibilities.
“But when the watchman sees the sword approaching, he does not blow the trumpet, and does not warn the people, so if one of them is cut off by the sword that is coming, he will be put out of his iniquity; lira” (verse 6) is the case for the three sins mentioned in the text. The first is the one who hears the warning and does not believe. A person who ignores the trumpet and ignores warnings. Second, I have never heard any warnings or gospels. I didn't hear the warning because the watchman didn't blow the trumpet, so I stopped sleeping. Third, he knew. I knew danger was coming, and I knew there was a big event ahead. And I didn't tell anyone else. I ran away to live on my own.
