Hymn: 394 (Hymn 354) 'Those who long for the Lord'
Meditation: Without faith it is impossible to please God. Just as there are laws in nature, there are laws in faith. I hope you can understand the laws of faith and live a life of faith.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: "...without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:1-6).
When Jesus came to this earth, his greatest concern was faith. He looked at whether the person had faith or not. And those with great faith were greatly praised. Verse 6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
There is an important law that every Christian should know, and that is the law of faith. When understanding this important law of belief, it is important to point out the object of faith. Who you trust is important. The object of our faith is God the Creator. Faith begins with knowing and believing in God, and grows by looking at God. So, it is no exaggeration to say that true faith begins with a right confession.
So, how can we greatly increase our faith? First, we must look to Jesus, the Lord of our faith (verse 2). Jesus is the substance of faith and the source of faith. It is Jesus who gives us faith. Therefore, we must look to Jesus. When we lift up our eyes and look to the Lord, we have faith.
Second, we must listen to the words of Jesus. “Therefore, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Without the Word, faith cannot grow. When we hear the word, we have faith. The saints must keep close to the Word. As we continue to read, listen to, meditate on, and recite the Word, our faith is built and grown. Only when the Word is accepted from the Logos to the Lehema can work happen.
The Logos is the written word of God, but the Lehema is the personal voice and word of God given to me. Mary was praised for choosing the good side of the Lord by longing for the Word at the feet of the Lord and listening to it.
Look to the Lord every day and be filled with the Word. I bless you that you can become saints of great faith that please God.
Prayer: Gracious Heavenly Father! Have pity on us and help us so that we can become people of great faith. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
