I. Joshua commanding preparations for the invasion of Canaan (10-11)
1. Joshua giving orders to the monks
In order to obey God's command to conquer Canaan, Joshua instructed his men to begin preparing for this. Joshua immediately carried out the command he had received from God on the spot without questioning or doubting a single word of it. It is the duty of the saints to obey God's word without any hesitation (1 Samuel 15:2 2). Here, quasi-dial means 'writer' or 'clerk'. These probably refer to officials in charge of Israeli administrative affairs rather than military leaders.
This mission was not to gain the means or joy to secure one's position, but to faithfully carry out the office received from God.
2. Prepare food
Commanding the officers, Joshua instructed each camp to prepare food.
This was indeed a wise instruction. It was said with anticipation that the manna would cease soon. Of course, the manna did not stop until they ate the produce of Canaan. However, in the midst of the turmoil of the war, and the manna will come to an end someday in the future, they prepared to receive the grace of Canaan.
In this way, we can see that we have prepared what is actually needed for war. In order to fulfill the promise of God's blessing, it was not just that we had to go physically, but we prepared ourselves and put all our energy into the work.
Likewise, our faith does not come automatically. They are already citizens of heaven as citizens of heaven, but they have to work hard and prepare to live until they fully enter the kingdom of heaven.
3. Invasion of Canaan in three days
The three days do not literally refer to three days, but to a short period of time (Ex. So, it was the fear that the invasion of Canaan was near.
Thanks to God's exhortation to be bold, he was very bold and informed the people that the invasion of Canaan would take place in three days. A leader's boldness spreads to the people. The saints are always ahead of the spiritual warfare, so they must boldly take on their roles as royal priests.
II. Joshua's command to the tribes who inherited the east side of the Jordan (12-15)
Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh were the half tribes who owned the east side of the Jordan.
These tribes were inherited from the early promises made with Moses. These were the lands that were distributed after occupying the land of King Og of Bashan, king of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived here. However, on the condition that these tribes receive priority distribution of this land, they made a promise that these tribes would take the lead and participate in the conquest of the Canaan mainland in the area west of the Jordan River. That is what Joshua is urging as his successor to faithfully fulfill this promise.
In this way, God's chosen people, Israel, had to fight and carry out their mission until they completely entered Canaan, the land of rest. Likewise, for our saints who have been saved before God, we must become faithful faithful ones according to the mission given to us until we enter the kingdom of heaven, the eternal Canaan.
III. Tribes obedient to Joshua's command (16-18)
As they had already promised to Moses, they faithfully obeyed in order to fulfill that promise.
At the time of Moses, these people were even rebuked by Moses for being a stiff-necked people. But now, he tells Joshua, who will lead Moses as a new leader, to actively cooperate and obey.
Saying, “God wants to be with you,” he decides to obey completely. Anyone who disobeys the new leader's words will be put to death, and he boldly pleads for the lead. In this way, the mind and will of the leader became one.
In order to fulfill the mission entrusted to the church today, it must become one body in Christ.
<Conclusion>
This world is a place of endless battles. The adversary enemy, the devil, is not armed like a roaring lion, but is aiming for believers who are like chaos. Once you fall and be attacked by the devil, the aftermath is serious. It is a pitiful loss to struggle in a long slump. Therefore, we must be united as one in Christ. And we must be faithful to the mission entrusted to us.
