Title Legends of The Fall
Legends of The Fall
Text/ Genesis 8:22, Galatians 6:7-8, Matthew 13:36-43
1. Introduction
In mid-October, when autumn is getting deeper and deeper, I suddenly remembered the title of the movie “Legend of Autumn” I saw before, and decided to give a sermon under the title “Legend of Autumn”. I thought it would be a perfect fit, so I preached on the legend of spring and the legend of summer for the past two weeks.
Today I am preparing for a sermon is October 25 (Thursday). Now it's the perfect fall. This morning we are harvesting rice with a tractor in the fields in front of and below our church. A few days ago, I climbed Sanasa, Yongcheon 2-ri, Yangpyeong-gun, as the wild head, to Mt. Baegun (940M), and colored leaves were flowing in the clear valley water, and the leaves were falling silently in the deep mountains.

2. Images of autumn
*Autumn (秋 = the season when rice is ripe by the fire of the sun) is called “Autumn” or “Fall” in English. The former is a formal poetic expression and the latter corresponds to the actual scenery of falling leaves, so Americans generally refer to autumn as It is said to be written as Fall.
* When we say “autumn”, we popularly refer to the season of 天高麗肥, the season of fruit, the season of harvest, the season of thanksgiving, the season of contemplation, the season of reading, the season of reading, spring is the woman's season, the autumn is the man's season, I think of the season to prepare for winter, such as kimchi, firewood, briquettes, and shiraegi.
*Byung-han Lee, a professor at Seoul National University, compiled a collection of Han Poems by Four Seasons, which introduces Spring-58 Wed, Summer-28 Wed, Fall-56 Wed, and Winter-27 Wed. It seems that spring and autumn are the main themes of the poem. Also, among Vivaldi's Four Seasons, 白眉 (white rice) is definitely considered autumn. Autumn is also a season for poetry, philosophy, music, art and romance.
*By the way, the Bible sees autumn from two very serious perspectives. First, we see autumn as the creative order of harvest (Genesis 8:22, Hos 8:7, Psalm 126:5-6, 2 Corinthians 9:6, Gal 6:7-8, etc.). Second, autumn is the harvest (end of the world) and harvesters (angels), sheep and goats, wheat and chaff, and wheat is bundled with tares in a barn and burned, and the time of judgment to distinguish between the people of heaven and the people of hell (Matthew 13: 36-43, Revelation 14:15-16).
3. Legends of The Fall
first. Autumn is a season to meditate deeply on life. Autumn is the time when the clear and refreshing energy is the most active among the four seasons when the universe is moving in heaven and earth. The blue and high sky raises the spirit of people, the wind blowing in the morning and evening makes the bones transparent, the bright moon in the autumn night awakens the senses, who am I the grassworm that mourns all night long is it? What is the meaning of my life? What is my relationship with God? It makes me look into my existence with that famous classic question of life. This is God's blessing to us this fall.
This fall, I hope you will climb the fallen autumn mountain. Please take a walk along the river flowing through the pine fields and the secluded fields of wild chrysanthemums. I hope you see movies like “Like a Flowing River” and “Autumn Legend” again. Please go to a classical concert on an autumn night. Please take a walk in the old palace gardens or royal tombs. Sit by the window in the morning or alone late at night, reading Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and poetry collections of poets. May you receive and enjoy God's blessing as a blessing.
second. Autumn is the season of reaping what you sow. This fall, we should all take a deep look at what we have harvested both spiritually and physically in the field of our lives. In autumn, the law of those who sow a lot and those who sow little will reap more is clearly revealed. Whoever reaped a lot this fall will be happy now. Those who have reaped little will be sad now. Responsibility for joy and sorrow is entirely my own responsibility. You can't cheat. There are no exceptions.
Therefore, the old man 疑今者察之國 不知來者視之今 (If you are in doubt about today's circumstances, you will take a closer look at your past, and if you want to know tomorrow's situation, He said to take a closer look at how I live.
third. Autumn is a season of gratitude. Those who reap bountifully this autumn should thank God for allowing them to reap bountifully. Those who reap little should give thanks to God who made the creation order of “reap what you sow” anew in reality. God gives a candle to those who are grateful for the starlight, a lamp to those who are grateful for the candle, moonlight to those who are grateful for the lamp, sunlight to those who thank the moonlight, sunlight to those who are grateful for the sunshine, the eternal light of God’s kingdom He is the giver (Spurgeon).
*Bless the LORD, my soul. All that is within me, bless the name. Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits (Psalm 103:1-2). *Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name (Psalm 100:4).
