A person can only remember what happened a year ago, a month ago, or even what happened yesterday. Knowing our situation, God reminded us of the idolatrous incident that God hates the most through Moses. And he clearly taught us to abstain from sin.
1. An idol made of gold (verse 12)
The people of Israel made idols for themselves while Moses went up the mountain to receive the word of God. It was people. Moreover, they tasted God's miracles and knew how to serve God. Like the Israelites, worshiping idols is easy to find even now. Idols are no different. Anything you love more than God is an idol. It could be you or it could be your children. It can be material or it can be power. If you love something more than God, you must repent.
2. The broken law (v. 17)
People break the law because they serve idols. As long as we worship idols, even if we do not deliberately try to break God's law, the first three of the Ten Commandments have already been broken. The first three commandments are that you shall not have other gods, you shall not make images, and you shall not take the name of the Lord in vain. We may think that we keep the Sabbath and keep the other six commandments in our faith life, but in fact, the most important thing is to keep the three items related to God well. We should delight in God and not allow any idols. When we keep the commandments God has given us, we can also keep the words He has given us.
3. Sinful Human Nature
Human nature was corrupted by eating the forbidden fruit. Human disobedience and sin are self-destruction. Man has completely corrupted himself and has fallen into a state of incapacity. Because of this, they departed from the way of God (verse 12). Because of sin, man turned away from God without realizing it. The people of Israel made idols using the ornaments they used to adorn themselves. I forgot God's command and couldn't keep my heart. In the same way, we too were sinners who shunned God's command by corrupting ourselves. But God was merciful to us and loved us so that we, who were dead in our trespasses, made life together with Christ (Ephesians 2:4~5). We must remember our sinful nature. And I hope you will be a wise person who keeps your heart from leaving God and meditates on the Word.
We must remember the sins of the Israelites in the wilderness. In the past we rebelled
It is to remember that even though he was a sinner, he was saved by God's exclusive grace. I hope that you will become a blessed person who looks back on the past when you disobeyed God, repents, and entrusts yourself to God's grace, which is being corrupted by your transgressions and sins.
<Prayer>
1. Since we repent of our sins, wash us clean with the blood of the cross!
2. Save unbelieving family members, relatives and neighbors!
3. Heal and restore weak patients!
