Meditation: I have nothing to brag about, so I must be a fool for the glory of God to be revealed.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise… ” (1 Corinthians 1:27, 28)
There are missionaries Ja-seon Kim and Jeong-in Kang, who are missionaries in the Philippines. As single missionaries, the two are engaged in dedicated missionary work. These people traveled to remote areas where the gospel had not been preached and preached the gospel only with their feet and service. As a result, you have planted 17 indigenous churches so far. In recognition of this ministry, he was recently awarded the ‘Kosin Missionary Award’, and is now recognized as the most faithful and excellent missionary not only in the Philippines but also in Asia.
When you actually visit the mission field and watch the work of these people, you can say that they are doing their work very purely. In other words, he is carrying out his ministry so simply that it seems foolish. However, God is accomplishing the amazing work of the gospel through two innocent missionaries who seem foolish and foolish.
Companies and sports teams try to recruit people with the highest skills and abilities. Recruiting the best talent is the basic principle of HR. But unlike the world, Jesus' greeting principle is to select and use people who are not good looking. He calls those who are foolish, weak, lowly, and despiced, as missionaries, and demands loyalty from them.
Why does Jesus need a fool? This is because people will come to believe that ‘that work was not done by that person, but by God’. However, we do not know the greeting principles of Jesus and want to be good people rather than fools. We value only the smart and capable, and ignore the weak and foolish. This is a departure from the principles of Jesus.
It wouldn't be a big deal if a soccer manager could win the championship with only the world's top stars like Zidane, Ronaldinho and Park Ji-sung. But if he can lead the local soccer team and win the championship, that manager has accomplished a great job. Jesus called the nameless people of the world to be disciples and caused the cities and countries to riot at that time, and he is still accomplishing amazing works of evangelizing the world through such people.
Prayer: I really want to be the fool the Lord needs. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
