Title Let's Be People / Mark 2:1-12

Let's become people / Mark 2:1-12

In Capernaum, Jesus was very popular. When they said that Jesus had come, all the townspeople came to see him.

Even on that day, when the news that Jesus was in a house was delivered, no matter how many people gathered in an instant, it was impossible to stand at the door.

Jesus was teaching them the gospel of the kingdom. But when they heard the news that Jesus had come, some people missed this opportunity and ran to a man suffering from paralysis.

They hurried to carry this immobilized patient on four people. It is often said that there were four people who were carrying a paralytic.

Not wrong, but it was some unnamed men who brought him to the Lord. Verse 3 says, “They came to Jesus with a paralytic on four of them.”

I think the four of you are probably not hired people. A few people of faith whose names do not appear here brought the paralytic to the Lord's presence, but a problem arose.

No matter how many people gathered, they couldn't stand in front of the door, so they couldn't get in through the door.

But they did not give up, and went up to the roof, tore a hole in the roof, and began to run down the sick through it. People who had been listening to the word of the Lord began to turn their attention to this bed running down to the Lord.

The Lord saw it too. Even an ordinary person will quickly understand why the sick man is put down. How much less do you know what to expect from the Lord and how they will bring this sick man down.

But a problem arose. Because of what the Lord said. It is because he spoke words that overturned the common sense of those who brought this sick person and all those who were looking at it.

Of course, the words of the Lord that came to the ears of those who were expecting to heal the sick man were [Your sins are forgiven].

Soon, people started to roar. Why did the Lord say this? Today, we will consider the reason for saying this saying that your sins are forgiven, and then we would like to share grace together by thinking about the words [which is easier] at the end of verse 9 and the people who finally brought them. .

1. First, we should think about what you said that your sins are forgiven.

Why did you say this? We need to re-enter the situation. The paralytic was running down the bed. Since he was from Capernaum, he must have known the locals.

But he couldn't afford to look at them. He fixed his eyes on this mysterious one. The eyes of the Lord met the eyes of the sick man.

And the Lord said [your sins are forgiven]. We need to look elsewhere in the Bible to learn more about this story in order to understand why the Lord said this.

In Matthew 9:2, it is written, [Take heart, son, your sins are forgiven]. Why did I tell you to be safe? Because he was afraid.

He couldn't stand the remorse that arose in his heart when he looked into the eyes of this mysterious One. He was trembling with fear because of his sins before the holy Lord, who was no lie.

The people who brought him to the Lord and all the Capernaum people gathered here thought that what the paralyzed man needed right now was his healing, but what the paralyzed man desperately needed was forgiveness of sins.

who are sick from sin,

A person whose business is ruined by sin,

Those who are being punished by God for their sins,

What do you think has priority for a person who is imprisoned for sin?

What he needed most right now was forgiveness of sins. Therefore, the Lord said, [Take heart, little child, your sins are forgiven].

If only the sickness had been healed and sin remained the same, the source of this person's illness and suffering from sin would have remained.

However, some of the scribes who saw the Lord's actions were babbling as if they did not understand. Sin is forgiven only by God, and in order to forgive sins, a sacrifice must be made along with the corresponding sacrifice.

But how could an ordinary person who is not a priest be able to say that his sins have been forgiven?

The Lord has heard their murmuring. And I asked: [Which is easier to say to the paralyzed man, your sins are forgiven you, or to say, get up, take your mat and walk?]

2. Now, let us consider the second of the words of the Lord, which one is easier.

Which is easier for you to say, “Your sins are forgiven” or “Get up and walk”. Which one do you think is easier?

These words show that the perspective of the Lord is clearly different from the perspective of life.

I think it's probably easier to say [You are forgiven now]. Because I don't have the ability to tell you to get up and walk.

Can any spiritual pastor say [get up and walk] to a paralyzed man lying in bed because he could not move at all?

And if it doesn't happen, what disgrace? If you are asked to choose between saying that your sins are forgiven or telling you to get up and pick up your bed and walk, it is easier for you to say that you are now forgiven.

But we do know that it was easier for the Lord to say to the Lord to get up and take your bed and walk.

For the Lord, it was more difficult to say, “Take care, little child, your sins are forgiven.”

Because there is no responsibility in the saying, “Get up and walk,” but in the saying that your sins are forgiven, responsibility follows.

When the Lord forgives this man who has sinned in the sight of God, a sacrifice and a peace offering were necessary for this, and he had to take responsibility for it.

In other words, the command to get up and walk is something that can be done by the power of the Lord, but saying that your sins are forgiven is something you have to give your life to.

character! So let's ask again. If you say you have to lay down your life in order to say that your sins are forgiven, which is easier than telling you to pick up your bed and walk?

Wouldn't it be easy to tell them to pick up your seat and walk, even if you're feeling a little embarrassed? How could he give his life so easily?

But one thing we need to know, let's say we risk our lives to say that, even at least one thing.

Let's say you did it with a truly amazing spirit of sacrifice. But our words as sinners have no effect. They do not have the power to forgive sins. You will end up wasting your own life.

Only Jesus Christ has that power. In other words, only the life of Jesus has the effect of the forgiveness of sins.

Therefore, the Lord did not say these words easily now. It was a really difficult decision. He said this by laying down his life for this man.

3. Now, we need to examine the background of the Lord's difficult words.

What was the background that made you say [your sins are forgiven] when you laid down your life? What was it that moved the heart of the Lord so much? It was faith and repentance.

The Lord saw the people who overcame all difficulties and sent him to the Lord, believing that if they brought the paralytic to the Lord, their problems could be solved.

As the people turned their eyes to the paralytic and to Jesus, the Lord saw them still on the roof, looking down nervously to see the end of this.

You could read the wishes of their hearts in their eyes. [I have only believed in the Lord] [Lord! I believe He will heal you.] How could he have turned away from those who were looking at him with such hope?

The Lord can never reject those who believe in him and come to him. I hope you will look to the Lord who does not turn away from the wishes of those who believe and look at you and listen to you at this time.

The names of the people who brought this paralytic here are not known. They were obscure devotees.

To bring this paralyzed man to the Lord, it took material and he had to overcome difficulties.

However, their names do not appear. Those who did not reveal their names, those who refused to claim that we were the ones who came out in public and led the events that led to this.

The church must have such obscure devotees. A devotion that expects praise and a person to recognize cannot be a true devotion. Behind that dedication, there is always a sound.

The next thing that moved the Lord's heart was the conversion of the paralytic. We do not know for what crime he was beaten. He knows and the Lord knows.

But I think that he also committed a serious sin that he became seriously ill. The fact that he too repented with fear and trembling shows that his sins were never light.

But in the sight of the Lord, such a thing cannot be a problem. No matter how great a sin I have committed, if I humbly repent, the Lord will forgive me and heal me.

Dear saints,

I want you and I to be just such people. Let us be devoted people without a name. Let us be those who carry the paralytic to the Lord.

I believe that true devotion will come when we humbly repent and become believers who have faith in the Lord. I bless you in the name of the Lord to become such people.
