Title Let's Climb Mt. / 2005. 3. 6.
Let's go up
Matthew 17:1-8, Deuteronomy 10:12-16
Although Jesus is holy, he lived his life as a stranger. He was homeless with his disciples for a few days, and he ate rough food without hesitation.
Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. Luke 9:58
It is saying that the Lord did not have a single house. The words that came out of their mouths changed people's souls, and miracles were performed where they touched them. Those words had power and power, and their eyes looked into people's souls, but their appearance was not good. . When you see him walking with his disciples, he looks like a wanderer in the market, and he looks so rough that it is hard to distinguish him from those who work in the dark. Looking at his appearance, who could say that he is the God who created the world and the Messiah who will save the world?
But one day the Lord went up a mountain with the disciples of Peter and John James. There, the Lord was suddenly transformed into a completely different form than usual. That shabby clothes changed into clothes that shine whiter than any other fabric in the world, and their appearance changed into a holy figure that cannot be described in words. This phenomenon is not just a change in appearance, but the surrounding environment, the air we breathe, the sky, the trees, the earth, and everything in sight is engulfed in mystery, and we have entered into an indescribable mysterious phenomenon. Peter, John, and James saw a completely different image of Jesus than usual. Not only that, but there, Elijah, who symbolizes power, and Moses, who symbolizes the Word, were together with the Lord, seeing a full and mysterious sight. The disciples wished that they would forget all the troubles of the world and continue this ecstatic and fullness. So the disciples said, without knowing what they were talking about.
Lord, it is good that we are here
If the Lord wills, I will make three tents here.
One for the Lord, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 17:4
While they were enthralled in ecstasy, again a mysterious cloud surrounded us and we heard a sound.
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him 17:5
And when I came to my senses, the Lord had returned to the same image as before. Although I came down the mountain with infinite regret, such an experience must have been an unforgettable experience for the three disciples for the rest of their lives. After that, the eyes of these disciples on the Lord must have been completely different from before. This experience of the Mount of Transfiguration must have become the strength and power to hold onto them even when the Lord is struggling and difficult, even after the Lord's resurrection and ascension into heaven.
Faith doesn't just gain strength from today's experiences. The experiences of faith experienced in the past become the strength that holds us today. That is why, just as the world saves money for difficult times, believers should keep their experiences of faith, testimonies of faith, and usually in their souls. Faith is today's experience, but in fact, yesterday's memories are the strength to overcome today.
When a person who has experienced the fullness of God sometimes loses his faith and falls down, that full experience becomes the strength to hold onto him and lift him up. Those who have made and have the testimony of faith will be able to gain the strength to push forward when they are blocked by problems.
After experiencing God's power to part the Red Sea, Moses must have gained the faith and strength to overcome any difficulties in the wilderness. So when certain difficulties come, he gets down on his knees before God and prays again. The reason why the Israelites tremble in fear at the same difficulties is because they do not remember the power of God, unlike Moses.
David, who was guarding sheep in the field, had the memory of faith defeating the wolf by faith, which led to his ability to defeat Goliath. It is the memory of grace that reproduces faith. It's not just a mystery experience. The experience of devoting yourself before God--the thrill and joy of that time becomes the ability to create another dedication.
Therefore, just as we keep our health when we are healthy, we must become believers who usually save the power of faith. Pray hard when you can pray, read diligently when you can read the Word, and dedicate diligently when you can dedicate yourself. That is to save the strength of my faith. The saved power of faith will become an unquenchable power that holds me back when I can't be strong.
Peter, John, and James became disciples who loved the Lord more through the experience of the Mount of Transfiguration. It must have been because these special experiences were in their life experiences that made them more loved than any other disciples who followed the will of the Lord.
How did they come to have this special experience? This is what today's text says.
Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and went up by themselves to a high mountain.
He was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 17:2
1. As I climbed the mountain, I received special grace.
In the Bible, mountains are always represented as holy places. This is because it is a place that is separated from the world, a place that ascends upward, and a place where only the sky can be seen. As the disciples left the world for a while and ascended to a place separate from the world, they experienced new grace and mysterious power.
Starting today, we will have a revival meeting. I hope this revival meeting will be an opportunity for all of us to experience climbing. Please leave behind the worldly things and busy hands for a moment. I believe that you will experience the special grace of God there.
2. As I walked with the Lord, I received special grace.
He went up to a high mountain by himself. Climbing the mountain would not have been easy. But Peter, John, and James rejoiced to accompany the Lord wherever He went. So they came to walk with the Lord wherever He went.
Here's an interesting story. (This is not a biblical story, it's a symbolic story.)
There is grace when you walk with the Lord to the end even when it is difficult and difficult. Perhaps the other disciples were resting at the foot of the mountain in a comfortable, easy place. However, although they may have been physically comfortable, they could not experience this wonderful grace of God. Only these three disciples who walked with the Lord to the end could experience the Lord's power.
We also believe that God's grace will be given to the saints who walk with the Lord until the end with the faith that climbs the mountain even if it is a little difficult and difficult for this revival meeting.
3 . The eyes of the disciples were opened as they walked with the Lord.
The reason that the disciples on the right saw the transformed Jesus was not because of the changed Jesus, but because their souls were opened. When we see the Lord with our physical eyes and outward appearance, the appearance of the Lord must have been a rough, tanned appearance with poor clothing. However, when they climbed the mountain and their spiritual eyes were opened, they saw a completely different image of the Lord. Rather than the Lord changing, their spiritual eyes were opened.
You cannot see the Lord properly with your physical eyes. Our physical ears cannot properly hear the voice of the Lord. Mary Magdalene went to the tomb with longing for the Lord, but did not recognize the Lord of the Resurrection. Because they found the dead Jesus. The two disciples of Emmaus also went with Jesus, but they did not recognize them. Because the disappointment was so great. But when their spiritual eyes were opened, they recognized the Lord. Mary's eyes were opened when the Lord called on her name, and Emmaus' disciples had their eyes opened when the Lord ate and prayed.
At this revival meeting, I hope that all of us will awaken our souls and become saints who will meet a completely new Lord.
We must change our doubts and stand with confidence.
Sick souls and bodies must be healed.
The crippled faith must arise.
Blind eyes and blind ears must be opened.
So change must happen.
The heart must change, the family must change, the life must change, and the life must be renewed.
I hope this revival will be a rising revival. Just as the image of Jesus that you have always seen seemed to shine when the disciples opened their eyes, I hope that through this revival meeting, your eyes will be opened, your soul?셲 ears will be opened, and your heart will be filled with the experience of the Mount of Transfiguration. Congratulations.
