Title - Let's Do Good
One of the American philosophers of history was a man named Biod.
He was well versed in history.
When he retired, a man asked.
“Teacher, what important lessons have you learned from studying history?”
To this he replied:
“I have learned four things.
First, when God intends to destroy a person, He allows him to come to power.
Second, God's millstone rotates slowly, but ultimately grinds everything finely.
Third, when a bee collects honey from a flower, it fertilizes it.
Fourth, it is the fact that you can only see the stars in the dark.”
So, to whom, when, and how should we plant?
♣ Good deeds for families of faith
Paul commanded the saints to do good deeds, but more to the families of faith.
Families of faith have priority to receive the love of the saints as brothers in Christ.
Also, the beautiful image of love between the saints can serve as a catalyst for unbelievers to enter into the gospel of Christ.
☞ Do good, but do not lose heart: This verse is an expression of keeping in mind that the time of the last harvest is delayed.
Everyone is nervous when the impending doom is at hand, but the crafty man will tire himself out and fall due to this “delay”.
On the other hand, the content of this verse is very similar to the content of 2 Thessalonians 3:13, “Do not grow weary in doing good.” It emphasizes the meaning of ‘continuous and repeated action’.
1. Doing Good in the Truth
In today's Bible, the Apostle Paul tells the disciples of Christ to do good, but do not become discouraged.
Many people, lacking sincerity, try to present themselves as outward religious practices.
But they may deceive men, but they cannot deceive God.
God sees not only actions but also hidden hearts.
On the other hand, the believer reveals Christ by doing good from the heart as those who have Christ in him.
He reveals the gospel of salvation, not through himself, but through the hidden treasure in him, through Christ Jesus.
In other words, believers reveal the truth by doing good.
Those who present themselves here are like sowing seeds in the flesh, and the saints who reveal the truth are only those who sow the seeds of the gospel.
In particular, the saints reveal the grace of truth by revealing the truth that works in them.
That is salvation.
Unlike those who preach the fleshly and delightful life, believers who walk in the truth have life and salvation because they reveal the truth of salvation that they already enjoy, the gospel of Christ.
Yehwa - Do black balloons float?
The people selling balloons in New York City seem to be able to grab the attention of children with better tactics without yelling at them to buy them.
He first takes out a white balloon, blows it with gas, and then hangs it on a string and floats it in the air.
Next, make a red balloon and float it. Then the yellow balloon goes up.
Thus, when white, red and yellow balloons are floating above their heads, little children are surrounded by them.
A shy black boy stared at the balloon for a while, then plucked up the courage to ask the balloon seller.
"Do black balloons float in the air?" He looked down at the child and said.
"Of course. The reason the balloon floats in the air is not because of its color, but because of what's inside it."
2. How should it be planted?
Regarding this, Paul says, “You must sow, believing that you will surely reap in due time, and do not lose heart in the slightest.”
Paul goes on to say, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good to everyone, but especially to the families of the faith.”
First of all, we must not rush to reap.
You must sow until you reap, sow with sincerity, and sow abundantly to everyone around you.
Everyone around us is a field we can plant. Therefore, it should be planted in anyone.
Some people associate with people, but only with people who will benefit them.
Also, only hire people who will use them. No matter what he gives, he only helps those who have something to return to him.
Others say that it is not necessary to give to the rich and not to treat them.
But this is not biblical.
Paul is teaching everyone to do good.
Only God knows when and how it will be harvested.
Yehwa - Love is the best way
For the giver, love is still the best way, even if it ends in failure.
And sometimes it can be successful.
A British boss who had been stationed in Egypt once told this story about himself.
“There was a civilian in my unit who believed in Jesus, and we abused him.
One night it was raining heavily, and he came in exhausted and knelt down to pray before going to bed.
I put my muddy boots on the man's head, but he continued to pray.
When I woke up the next morning, the boots had been wiped clean and lay next to my bed.
That was his reward for me, and his answer melted my heart. I was saved that day.”
-Richard Rembrandt, from ''''The Tale of a Bird Out of the Cage''''
Those who enjoy the grace of salvation in the truth cannot hide that joy because of the inner impulse of the truth.
As a person who is clothed with the love of Christ, we cannot but show that love.
Their conduct is according to the truth and imitates Christ.
There can be no deceit, strife, or discord in it.
Those who abide in the truth practice the truth, and those who do the truth are revealed to all. Therefore, believers must carry out the work of revealing and witnessing to Christ as those who have received Christ.
