Bible: 1 Corinthians 2:4-5
Title: Let's Have the Power of the Gospel
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 ‘4. My words and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but only in the manifestation and power of the Holy Spirit, 5. That your faith might not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.' - Amen.
Paul preached with wisdom in Athens, the city of philosophy, but failed and went to Corinth. Corinth Church - The church that Paul built while staying one year and six months in Corinth during his second missionary journey (Acts 18:5-7), the goddess Aphrodite and various idols, a commercial city and a place where people from various places live. Luxury, litigation of believers in the courts of the world, mysticism, strong powers of pagans and philosophers, arrogance and arrogance, promiscuous city. Verse 3, “I was weak, afraid, and very trembling while I was dwelling among you.” I would like to share this grace under the title of <Let's Have the Power of the Gospel>.
1. You must forsake the wisdom of the world to receive power
If it is power, it is not any miracle, but the power that the gospel of truth gives. Paul said he would not evangelize by human persuasion. Text 1 Corinthians 2:4 'My words and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in the manifestation and power of the Holy Spirit.' After meeting Jesus, Paul regarded the philosophy of legalism and secularism as rubbish, and only Jesus was satisfied with
Philippians 3:8 “And I regard all things as loss, because the knowledge of my Lord Christ Jesus is the noblest, and for his sake I lose all things, and by counting excrement I gain Christ.” If we do not long for the wisdom of the truth and live according to the knowledge of the world, we will perish.
When was the church a light to the world? It was a time when we were satisfied with only Jesus. Verse 2, “Because I have determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
Because the church in Corinth is trying to live a life of faith based on the knowledge and experience of the world, I am the Apollos, I am the Cephas (Peter), and I am the Paulists. The problem was not solved because he only put forward his knowledge and self-esteem, and there was only a loud noise every day. Faith is not a philosophy of mind that is a way of thinking. You must first try to get rid of people's thoughts.
2. We must be captivated by the power of the gospel to overcome the world
When ordinary people hear the gospel, they hear it religiously and freely like Christian ideas. However, if you keep listening and hear as if they are stabbing your heart with the power of life, you have evangelized properly. Evangelism is not about speaking well. The power of life must go out. 1 Corinthians 2:5 “Your faith did not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power”
Experiencing the mystery and speaking in tongues does not surprise the world. Rather, it may be mistaken for an insanity. However, if you are faithful to the gospel, put on a new person, and live a life of a new attitude, that will become your strength.
Today's church members have lost the ability to conquer the world, even though they have heard more sermons and know more than in the past. Why do you think this is happening? Is it because the world has become evil? no. The world only seems to be getting stronger because the church is weak because it is not faithful to the gospel of truth.
It is not our artificial knowledge or our religious and cultural powers that the devil fears. No matter how well the chapel is built, the people of the world build it better. Even if you show praise as a human technique, people in the world do it better. In 1 Corinthians 1:23, it is said that the world is foolish to see Christ, the power of the gospel. However, if we step forward with the truth of God, the God of the Word, then the world will be afraid of us. Because the power of the gospel goes out.
Ephesians 6:17 “… take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
Hebrews 4:12 “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…”
Although it is not the Bible, it is highly likely that it was written by a historian at the time. According to the contents of the <Pilate Report> sent by Pilate to Tiberius Caesar, the emperor of Rome, Pilate invited Jesus to his official residence. But I wrote the situation like this: “..Suddenly my legs were immobilized as if they had been glued to the marble floor with iron hands, and the young man of Nazareth (Jesus in his early thirties) was standing indifferently and quietly, but I felt like a criminal criminal. It was trembling.”
On the day Jesus was arrested, a soldier came and tried to arrest Jesus. Who is Jesus? Hani
John 18:6 “When Jesus said to them, ‘I am he,’ they withdrew and fell to the ground.”
To say that the kingdom of God is not in words but in power means to win with the truth. I pray that you and I will not become fearful believers but be armed with the truth and show our abilities.
