Title Let's Pray (Psalm 116:1-5)

Contents

summary

There are several qualities of prayer, first of all, it is intimacy (Matthew 6:9). Therefore, all believers who approach with a friendly heart become successful prayers. Prayer has omnipotence (Matthew 21:22). Therefore, when you believe and ask, you will receive everything. Prayer has a quick effect (Luke 18:6-7). Therefore, you will enjoy it when you know that you have already received it and give thanks. There is unity in prayer (Matthew 18:19). Therefore, praying together is more effective. There is truth in prayer (John 15:7). All true prayer is the will of God. And prayer is blissful (Hebrews 4:16). Therefore, those who live before God always enjoy happiness.

The sermon I will share with you this time is titled "Let's Pray." This month, especially this week, is a week of prayer. This is a time when the ministry of prayer is specially requested, such as educational events inside and dealing with heresies outside.

Jesus taught the most about prayer more than anything else. And he taught about prayer and first became an example of prayer. How important would our Lord have done it? Everyone, how amazing is the fact that when we pray to God, He hears us? And how grateful I am to know that you know everything about me and grant our wishes. Those who know this fact cannot help but become a person of prayer for the rest of their lives like the psalmist in today's text.

However, you can do better if you know that prayer has several qualities and pray.

1. There is friendliness.

Matthew 6:9 says, “Pray in this way, our Father in heaven.”

How friendly is this? Prayer itself is not only about going before God, but also about the Father, so its closeness cannot be said. If the father is not friendly, who is friendly? Therefore, prayer is the most effortless thing to do. Because we pray together, we need a formality, but otherwise, we can do it casually. So please always make your prayers friendly.

And because you are such a friendly Heavenly Father, He fills you with the most precious things. That's why Jesus said, "How much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him" (Matthew 7:11). God loves those who pray the most. Because it's friendly. Talking is the best filial piety. He prefers the saints who always pray closely to God.

2. Prayer is omnipotent.

Matthew 21:22 says, “And whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive it.”

This is the omnipotence of prayer. He said that if you ask for anything, you will receive it. The reason prayer is omnipotent is that God who grants prayer is omnipotent. Therefore, we should pray in faith, even if it is impossible.

When Peter was captured by Herod and put in prison, there was no chance of his being released. However, the Jerusalem church members gathered together to cry and pray. Then God sent an angel to free Peter from prison. Even those who prayed were amazed when they saw Peter released because they could not have imagined it.

There is nothing impossible in your prayers. Moses' prayer saved Israel from Egypt. Joshua's prayer made the sun and the moon remain in the sky. Elijah's prayer also caused fire to fall from heaven. Elisha's prayer raised him from the dead. Jesus said, “Whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive it.”

3. Prayer has a quick effect.

In verses 6-7, he said, "How much more will God not avenge his elect, who cry out day and night, will he be patient with them?"

You don't endure long. The stubborn judge also listened to the crying widow for fear that she would suffer, but God asked if he would be patient. For example, when Daniel made a decision to ask God, the answer had already been given. However, there was an evil force that was interfering with them, so they could not come down quickly. Because there is no such thing in heaven, it is said that if you pray or just think, it will come true quickly.

What will God delay to give to his children so that they can be put to use? There is no reason to delay. When you pray, it is an immediate answer. But on the earth there is an obstacle of evil, so we must cry out and go out with strong faith. Only that is different. Therefore, we must believe that we have received what we prayed for and be bold. This is the secret to becoming a reality.

4. There is unity in prayer.

Matthew 18:19 says, "If two of you agree on earth to ask for anything, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."

God hears even our prayers. However, it is more powerful when several people work together. God wants many people to unite and pray for great things. Just as earthly rulers listen more easily when there is public opinion, so God listens with more joy when they work together.

5. There is truth in prayer.

John 15:7 "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

This verse well expresses the truthfulness of prayer. True prayer does not depart from God's will. Therefore, the prayers in the Bible never go against the truth. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, as your soul prospers.” This prayer is God's will.

The Holy Spirit never helps apart from the Father's will. That's why Romans 8:27 says, "He who searches hearts knows the thoughts of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." Jesus said, “Not my will, but your will be done.” Therefore, above all else, we must seek to do the will of God. Because that means the best.

6. There is bliss in prayer.

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may find mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Even when we come before God, God has mercy on us and gives us grace. Therefore, if we do not receive God's mercy or grace, we do not pray. Why won't God have pity?

How much is God's grace this time? Our failure to host the Winter Olympics in Korea is unfortunate, but we need to understand why. Kim Un-yong It appeared on the surface, and the truth was God's providence to prevent Sun Myung Moon's power from spreading any further. This is because when the Olympics are held, they will eventually use the cultural facilities and become their event. We can see that it is raining and God is not blessing the soccer tournament this time. If we pray, God will bless us, our church, our nation, and the world.

Dear saints,

It can be seen that the psalmist in today's text has a very grateful heart for God who hears prayers. Death was wrapped around him, the torments of Hades came over him, and he met tribulation and sorrow, but he humbled himself and cried out to God and prayed. At that time, God answered. So he confesses: “I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my supplication, because he has inclined his ear to me, so I will pray all the days of my life.” I bless you all in the name of the Lord.
