Contents
Hymn: 508 (New Hymn No. 454) 'Be like the Lord'
Meditation: The beginning of faith is the family. Let's take a look at what form and what kind of education should be provided through the home.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
main text: '… When Jesus was twelve, they went up according to the custom of this feast… ' (Luke 2:41-51)
There is a saying in Yongbieocheonga that 'a tree with deep roots is not shaken by the wind'. As long as your children are well rooted and live, there is nothing to worry about what they do.
In order to raise them as deep-rooted children, they must first take root well in the family. In the text, Jesus and his parents visited Jerusalem according to the liturgy on the occasion of the Passover. And after the visit, Jesus' parents knew that Jesus was with them and went home. It also went down a day. Since there were so many relatives and neighbors, you may have thought that you would be with them. But the story that came out of the mouth of Jesus who came back and met him in the temple is an amazing story. It was the story of not knowing how to be at my father's house. From going to Jerusalem with my parents to doing everything together.
To take root in the home means that children must come into the home. Coming home in the evening does not mean coming into the home. You have to have a conversation with your child, and you have to understand them. When children first enjoy peace at home, they can win in the world.
Second, in order to raise children as deep-rooted children, the roots of faith must be deep. Jesus' parents were examples of faith. Every year for the Passover, I went to Jerusalem. And I joined that season. And when the children grow up to a certain extent, they take them together and climb to keep the festival. Going up to the temple with your children is a very meaningful and valuable religious education. It is very beautiful to see a family of believers traveling for three days to Jerusalem.
Let's pray for our children to take root in the home. And let us firmly root our faith and become God's warriors who can overcome the temptations of the world without being shaken.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being our Father. Help your children to live their lives with strong roots in their families, and let them be victorious in the world when the roots of faith are established through their families. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
