《Let there be light》
(Genesis 1:1-5)
New Year's Eve has begun. The year of the Rabbit has opened. It reminds us of the rabbits who bet with the tortoise, the jade rabbits pounding the rice cake mill in the moon, and the rabbits we are familiar with. A rabbit gives birth to 40 pups in a year, so it is a symbol of prosperity. I hope that each class group of our church will evangelize by 40 people, and that each class the church school teacher is in charge of will increase by 40 people. In the New Year, I hope that you will become rich in evangelism, rich in prayer, and rich in the Word. It's not about looking for special ideas, it's about going back to basics. If you go to a mountain and get lost, you have to go to a higher place to find the lost way. If our religious life is burdensome and tiring, we must return to why we came to believe. Because that is the basis.(…) We are going to start the first word of the new year with Genesis. Genesis teaches us to begin. It makes us clear what the basic beliefs are If we read Genesis incorrectly, we will misunderstand the entire Bible, and we will not understand the cross of Jesus.
① God created the heavens and the earth.
(…) Human relationships are not accidental because this world proceeded according to God’s creative will. therefore… God is the mediator in the creation of the world. God is the mediator of world preservation. God is the mediator of world redemption. Almighty, omnipotent, and omnipresent. He is the one who was in the beginning, the eternal and absolute Spirit.(…) Believing in God the Creator is the beginning of Christian faith.
② The state before creation was chaotic and empty. (verse 2)
(…) The human heart is also confused before knowing God. It is empty and rests on the depths of darkness. No priorities, no order. The void is the state of being without the joy and worth of work. Meaningless daily life is repeated.(…) When a person's heart is empty, there is no reality of life. There is no presence. So you will stay in the depths of darkness. So God says.
③Let there be light (verses 3-4)
(…) This light is the light of a new name, the light of truth, the light of the glory of God, and the light that Paul received while wandering in Damascus. When this light comes, chaos and void disappear. Darkness recedes.(…) Do we have the light to dispel the darkness of conflict and suffering, chaos and emptiness? The cross is the light of life, the light of sacrifice, and the eternal light.(…) God’s “Let there be light” this morning means to receive Jesus, the true light, the true life, and to overcome the darkness in our hearts. He commands the light to distinguish between righteousness and unrighteousness.(…)
④I hope it will be the first day.
(…) God is the Word, and the Word became flesh and came to this earth. He came as light and as life in a world full of darkness. First day. The first day is the day the light of truth begins to shine. The first day is the day when the life of Jesus, the truth of Jesus, and the way of Jesus are opened in our hearts. Have you seen the rising morning sun in 2011? Has the darkness of last year been washed away? Has the darkness of chaos and void in your minds gone? First day. May your hearts be filled with thanksgiving and praise on the first day.
