[Let us be filled with the Lord.] Ephesians 1:15-23 2007.09.09. Sunday worship service
2) The Christian faith was transmitted as the gospel to us, who used to live in fresh clothes and coats, groaning all at once in the dark without knowing the world, to save people, develop industry, and make the country this advanced. At that time, the church that received the Christian faith was zealous to preach the gospel and took the lead in awakening, enlightening, and saving people. The novel, “The Evergreen Tree,” written by Shim Hoon, featuring the main character “Chae Young-shin,” is a novel, but it shows that the church at that time was full of the Lord’s passion. At that time, I prayed while holding onto the root of a tree with the determination that if I died, I would share it with my neighbors and brothers in need, and I was full of the mission I received.
3) Like the church in Ephesus, in Korea, it has been over 100 years since the gospel came to this land, and 25% of the people, one out of four people, has grown to become a member of the church. However, we are still members of name only, and I think we are not a church. We, who will lead and change the world, are not filled with the Lord and blame the world, but we do the same as the world does. Do you not give excuses for your hard work toward God, such as the holy water on Sunday or tithing, and fight for your own interests or greed? Compromise rather than principle gained strength, and assimilation and adaptation rather than adherence prevailed. The book of Ephesians tells us to be filled with the Lord.
4) Today is September 9th. That sweltering summer, when I thought the sweltering heat didn't seem to go away at all, turns into autumn in an instant. Now let's look to the Lord at the turning point when we need to prepare the fruit and reap the harvest. To us as God's church and God's people, the church is the body of Christ, "the fullness of him who fills all in all." As the Lord who fills all things, we pray that our hearts will be filled with the church. such a person,
1. We must be filled with faith in Jesus within us.
1) People do bad things on their own, even if no one teaches them. This miraculous and greedy. And life is painful and confusing. In such a person's heart, there is also the nature to seek the Lord and turn to God. However, man's daily life is chaotic, helpless, and in the deep temptation of sin, every day is a life of hell. No, I don't know if it's hell itself. It is like a woman who came to Suga to draw water, carrying a water jar with a heavy heart sinking deep into the ground.
2) Jesus came to such people and saved us through His death and resurrection on the cross. Those who know that the Lord's work is for me and have accepted Jesus in their hearts will repent of all their past sins and receive the Lord. “To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become sons of God.” “This is so that no one should perish, but have everlasting life.”
3) To be filled with Jesus means to experience being born again before the Lord through repentance and to accumulate His grace in our hearts. Where those who are full of the Lord exalt the grace of the Lord, that is the church filled with Christ.
2. A church filled with the Lord is full of clean life and obedience.
1) The first step of a person filled with the Lord is to live a clean life. The Lord commanded, “Follow me.” Examine yourself with the Word and follow the Lord.
The home of Saint Francis of Assisi, Italy, was aristocratic, wealthy and lacked anything. One day while praying, you hear a voice telling you to leave everything and follow me. And he leaves the home of his wealthy and comfortable parents to live with his poor and needy brother. As he sits in the woods and meditates, birds go up to his knees and land on his shoulders. He started preaching to the birds. “Birds, you beautiful creations of God, you should thank God. Who in the world has feathers prettier than you? Who can fly around the world at will, see and enjoy it as much as you do? God gave you food, but didn't He give it to you all over the world? Birds, give thanks to God, you beautiful creations of God." Then all the birds that flocked around nodded and listened to the sermon. It is obedience to God's Word that makes him the most revered saint of the Middle Ages. .
2) Being like Jesus is a life that we follow Christ and obey. Lord, who came into the world as the only begotten Son of God and obeyed Him even to death, those who obey Him and submit ourselves to Him are full of Him. A person who is full of the Lord is one who lives in battle with the world. Those who do not submit to the world but obey the Lord become enemies and enemies of the world.
3. There is always peace in the Lord.
1) All people in the world live “me-centered”. I am the center, I am selfish, and I am fundamentalism. You say you are the master of the world. If you look at it that way, everyone is fighting each other to the extreme. I think the center is me, so I have to press and trample others to make me stand up. I need to satisfy my greed and exalt me. The quarrel starts here However, if we shift our focus to the Lord, not to me, we exalt the Lord, the common center of all. We are united in exalting and edifying the Lord, praising and glorifying the Lord. This is the Lord-filled church and believers.
2) We are believers who make up the body of the Lord. Exalt the Lord and make peace and peace together. Those who have met the Lord are those who have experienced warm love and consideration for me. So we treat our neighbors and brothers with that love. We accept each other as if the Lord had received us, and we care for each other as if the Lord had taken care of us. Just as the Lord saved our pride, we also save each other's pride. Above all, we have a heart of peace within us as the Lord has given us peace. This is the heart of those who are filled with the Lord.
3) Jesus comes to us and breaks down barriers. He made us children of God without any discrimination between Jews and Greeks. You have made peace through the cross. The gospel is the nation, lineage, or knowledge. It does not discriminate between ignorance or rich and poor. Christ's work of peace is powerful without discrimination against anyone. This is the fullness of God for the people who believe in Christ.
4. A church that is full is full of the fruits of the Lord's work.
1) The most important duty of man is to worship the Lord. When God calls us and gives us life, it is our intention to receive worship through us. “This people I have formed for myself, to sing my praises.” Everything in the world has a purpose for which it was built. And since the church of God and the Lord's saints were also created according to a purpose, the church must be filled with this purpose, namely, worship for God.
The meaning of being a saint filled with the Lord is the worshipers who are full of our thanks and praise to the Lord, so they always live with the Lord.
3) The spirit of Jesus who came to us and preached the gospel is love. We, who have received the Lord's infinite love, must fill this community with love. A church filled with love, that is, we must fill in us according to the person of the Lord who loved us, his word, and his way of life. This kind of fullness is the church filled with Jesus and the saints.
In conclusion,
1) Summer is over and autumn is ripe, and the trees are full of ripe fruits. I saw grapes, the delicacy of autumn. The hot sun during the summer and the late rainy season seemed to have endured well. When I picked up a bunch of grapes, there were no gaps in the grapes. How could the grapes be filled with each other without a single gap? Gentlemen, this is fullness, fullness. I took a grape and put it in my mouth. The shell cracks and the sweet water bursts, filling your mouth from the tiny egg.
2) This fullness is fullness. Just like the fullness of autumn fruit, today's text verse 23 says, "The church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all." He does. The church is the place where the full presence of Jesus, who makes this world and completes all things in the world, is fully present.
3) Because the church is the body of the Lord, it must be filled with the Lord. And in the same way, the Lord must come to the heart of each one of us. The character of Jesus becomes our worship, evangelism, and reaching the depths of love and is revealed. This is the image of the members of our church that the Lord demands and people want in this age. We pray that all of us will enjoy the grace of Jesus who comes in full.
