<Text> Leviticus 15:1-33

Chan 423 “Blacker Than Ink”

A holy God wants human beings created in God's image to live in imitation of God's holiness. Through Leviticus, God teaches us the principles and practical guidelines for living as God's people who must live holy lives. Before offering the sacrifice, He tells us about which cases are unclean in the sight of God and how to be cleansed from uncleanness. Among the various diseases that God considered unclean, the case of leprosy, which we looked at earlier, is an apparent disease. Therefore, it is a disease that is easily judged by people and the community to which it belongs. On the other hand, in the case of the leaky disease we read today, it is a hidden disease that people cannot easily know unless you tell it on purpose.

Hidden Disease: Leak Disease

Leak disease is a disease name derived from the words 'flow' and 'flow', and refers to a disease that has symptoms such as pus or blood leaking out from the genitals or hardening of the effluent from the body. Although it is not accurately expressed in the Bible, in verse 3, "whether it flows out of his body or is blocked from flowing out of his body" (the word 'body' in verses 2 and 3 is an euphemism for the genitals) It can be said that these outflow diseases include diseases such as gonorrhea, a type of gonorrhea, in which pus or pus flows out, or hemorrhagic bleeding that continues to bleed. In the case of a spilled disease, it is a disease that can be easily hidden if you want to hide it. As such, its symptoms and characteristics are very similar to today's sexually transmitted diseases. Just as today's HIV/AIDS, which has about 33.3 million patients worldwide (UNICEF 2010 statistics), is an invisible disease, the epidemic at that time was also one of the sex-related and so hidden diseases.

If there is something shameful that people don't notice, we care about covering it up, but God allows us to face it. That is the first step towards holiness. It is to face reality. He asks you not to rush to cover up the shame, but to look straight ahead. This is because the holiness that God requires of us is not superficial holiness, but total holiness.

This week, on December 7th, Newsweek published an article about sex addiction.

The symptoms of sex addiction, which were previously concentrated on men in their 40s and 50s, are now rapidly expanding to adolescents, women, and the elderly under the influence of online media, and this addiction is developing towards more intense stimulation. It was reported that more and more people are becoming addicted to abnormal sexual behavior and their daily life is disturbed and exhausted. However, at the end of the article, we conclude: 'Sex addiction stems from the desire to be a person who wants to be recognized. Because they feel that they are important and loved through their actions.' Although on the surface there are no problems and nothing strange, in reality many people have had and still have these problems. The sexually transmitted diseases associated with the epidemic in Leviticus 15 and the sexual addictions associated with today's sex have one thing in common: they stem from the desire to be recognized and loved by someone.

A person with a leak is a person who has contracted the disease as a result of sexual misconduct. He was a man who lived with a desire to get his own physical satisfaction through his actions and to feel that he was important and loved. Even today, there are people with the leaky disease described in Leviticus chapter 15. People who do not know, perhaps do not recognize, but who are recognized by someone, from someone important to someone who is loved, in an invisible place, and doing things that can never be revealed in broad daylight, are the leak patients living today. But the only person we need to be acknowledged is God. Only God can confirm that we are important. Only God can convince us of love. The pleasures of the visible world and commercialized love never give us true satisfaction, but rather put a bondage of sin in our lives. Our bodies and minds that have been indulged in something other than God must face the reality of

He asks you to come to the altar with the sacrifice, without turning away any longer and avoiding it as if nothing had happened.

two pigeons

Verse 14: “On the eighth day he shall bring for himself two turtledoves or two young pigeons, and shall go before the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting and give it to the priest.”

On the altar, this man holds two doves in his hand. The two doves that God, who truly loves us, sent us to the altar saying, 'Do not evade any more,' and placed them in our hands, it is our sacrifice, Jesus. It is a token of God's love to the leaky patient today. It is our Heavenly Father who offered Jesus as a sacrifice. Now, let us offer a sin offering to God by means of that sacrifice. Let us offer a burnt offering of everything in the offering. Through the sacrifice of the sacrifice, we will now be recognized as appointed and recognized, and we will be recognized as children who can stand before the holy God.

Prayer:

Before God who wants to completely restore not only our outward appearance, but also our hearts and invisible parts, we open up all the hidden bars of our hearts. We confess that we have numerous physical sins and mental illnesses that we cannot reveal to anyone. As a result, our lives have been turned upside down. As I come to you as a sin offering sacrifice through Jesus Christ, my sacrifice, let me enjoy atonement and freedom now by your grace. May we be freed from the bondage of sin that has been held down for so long by the blood of Jesus Christ, and that our desire to be recognized and loved may be abundantly filled by God, not the world. In this way, let the holiness of God who completely dominates body and mind, soul and body lead to our holy lives. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
