<Text> Leviticus 18:1-30
<Hymns> Chapter 421. having my sins forgiven
This text deals with the basic matters concerning sexual morals that Israel should practice, and it declares regulations strictly prohibiting incest and the introduction of foreign sexual cultures to the people of Israel. God's chosen people had to keep their holy attributes, so they had to be cut off from the pagan culture, which is prone to contamination. This order was a strict order to prevent them from being settled in Canaan and falling into the turbid sexual culture of the Gentiles. When we follow the sins of the Gentiles, we can see that God's strong will is expressed in the words, “I will be cut off from among his people.”
1. Egyptian customs
Egypt's custom was to commit crimes by approaching people who were physically and physically exhausted.(6) The facts are enumerated in the text. A child commits a mother.(7) A stepmother who is not a real mother.(8) A half-sister commits.(9) A granddaughter or only granddaughter.(10) Half-sister(11), aunt(12) , aunt (13), aunt (14). Father-in-law takes pride in himself(15) and commits to brother-in-law or step-sister
It can be seen that the Egyptians fell into superstitious lusts to satisfy their lusts, and, possessed by all kinds of lies, gave even their children to death, and did worse than the animals that pursue their own lusts. Such sex crimes were a sin that had no choice but to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
This is human. There is no difference between the past and the present, and there is no end to the human race toward sin.
2. God's Judgment
When human beings become so polluted, the earth becomes polluted, and God's judgment is brought about. Egypt was destroyed because of this.(27) Canaan was also judged because of this.(24-25) He warns that Israel will also be destroyed if this happens.(28) Therefore, "Keep my commandments, and keep the abominations that you practiced before you entered. Do not defile yourself by following any custom.” (30).
3. Causes of sexual depravity
I saw an article in the newspaper today.
“Korean men are the second most cheating man in the world.
In a recent survey conducted by Durex, a global contraceptive device manufacturer, of 29,000 men and women in 36 countries around the world, 34% of Korean men answered that they had “experienced cheating,” making it the second largest after Thailand (54%) The affair rate was found to be high.”
It can't be a serious problem.
Why do people become so corrupted?
It is a matter of government, a matter of purpose, and a matter of faith. Because the values of the world do not see sex as an expression of marital union.
When God paired a man and a woman, they were matched as matchmakers who loved and helped each other. Therefore, married couples are not for themselves, but for others. The self is in the other person, not the self in the self. Thus, couples can be united, deeply committed to each other, and become one flesh. Sexual union expresses the union between spouses, that is, a union in which the mind and body are united and the person is two and yet harmonious. Therefore, sex cannot be a means of self-satisfaction without such personal unity and commitment. To think of sex as a means of self-gratification in this way is a depraved result.
Sexual ethics and sexual morals help and benefit you to live an orderly and harmonious life the more strict and demanding you are. We who are in Jesus strive to keep the word and do it so that we can enjoy its riches in Jesus. Acting is a natural phenomenon that proves that you have received the life of Jesus. As a living person breathes, those who have the life of Jesus try to follow the spirit of Jesus because that is his life. He loves Jesus. I know Jesus as life. So, you are trying to live the life of Jesus. It is natural to wish to do more.
Paul prays like this. Look at Ephesians 1:17-19.
“The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, has given you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, that you may know God, and open the eyes of your hearts, what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints? I pray that you may know what is the exceeding greatness of the power he has bestowed upon us who believe, as he works by the might of his might."
Just as Paul had this wish for the Ephesians, we should also have this wish for each other. Thus, we must become Christians who come to the riches of Christ.
<Prayer>
God the Father
Please enlighten our dark eyes to see the truth, to know what hope is and what grace is, and to forsake iniquity and lust of the flesh, serve only God, and live as Your holy people. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
