Title Life/Job 14:1-6

Content Job 14:1-6

life

--Someone forgot to put gasoline in the car and came home and had to cancel all dinner plans outside. This man came home and was nervous about his beloved family. That night, a thief stole a car and ran away soon after running out of gasoline, leaving the car on the street. The man, who found the stolen car the next day, realized how fortunate he had been to run out of gasoline and gave him a bird's-eye view of his entire life.

This does not necessarily lead to . We must know that all suffering has meaning. In the dictionary, 'life' is interpreted as 'a person's life', 'a person who has life', 'a person lives in the world while a person lives in the world', and 'human survival life'. The word is simple in meaning, but the word has a very wide range of meanings.

Job spoke well of the essentials about the realities of life. Of course, the things Job identified here presupposed a religious perspective and revealed the existential meaning of life. Prior understanding of life is absolutely essential for us. Because it is only when such understanding takes precedence that we can clearly understand why all of our lives need salvation.

What is life?

##### 1. Life is full of suffering

Job defined life as full of suffering (v. 1).

Saint Augustine says: "Everyone bursts into tears as soon as they are born into this world. This is not an expression of the misfortune of foreseeing the many sufferings that one will suffer in the future, what is it!" That's right. Life is pain. Even Solomon, who enjoyed the greatest glory in the world, referred to life as 'a being who cannot sleep day and night and is suffering from pain' (Ecclesiastes 8:16).

The great writer Goethe confessed that he had never been truly happy in his seventy years of life, the philosopher Soopenhauer said that life was born to suffer, and the ancient iron man Seneca did not know that life is suffering. There was no such thing as bad luck.

We must realize that our life is suffering. Because only then will I know why I need salvation.

##### 2. Life is fleeting and impermanent

Job went on to define life as ephemeral and unharmed. “Its emergence is like a flower, it withers away, it is swift like a shadow and does not abide,” says verse 2. Of course, here too, it is necessary to remember that life is 'being born of a woman'. Because everyone who is born is bound to die sooner or later.

A scholar in the end of the Goryeo period in our country wrote the following poem:

"I went back to the capital for five hundred years to Pilma.

Sancheon is questionable, but ingeol is nowhere to be found.

I wonder if Mother Taepyeong Yeonwol is a dream."

Witnessing the old capital city overgrown with weeds, the sense of impermanence was desperate and he spoke openly as it is. Beings born soon die. So, in the eyes of God, being born is no different from dying.

In the face of this existential phenomenon, it is meaningless for a person to live on this earth for several decades. Many try to show off their health, show off their looks, and increase the respect they get for their positions, but these are all just vain dreams. For all flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flowers of the grass.

That's right. We all need to be deeply aware of our own futility and impermanence. Only then can you understand why you need salvation at the same time.

##### 3. Life is a life drenched in ugliness

Job went on to define life as the ugliness of life. Job's words, "Who can bring out a clean thing out of an unclean thing, not even one" (verse 4) were all of this.

Matthew Henry said, "Clean offspring cannot come from unclean parents. We must know that they are not only the result of human lawful transgression, but also tainted with genetic diseases."

It cannot be said that marital union is a legal crime, but one thing is clear. This is the fact that everyone in life is born in the fundamental sin of original sin. Going one step further, that life is ugly is also a realistic testament.

-- Thomas A. Kempis, author of the book, said:

"Life is so ugly, but people love it so much that you can't even open your eyes to see it."

That's right. We must know that we are in the gutter of life. Only then will I know why I need salvation.

Saints!

When someone asks what life is, the answer can never be simple. This is because the tendencies of human thinking vary. But nevertheless, the rules of life that Job showed in the text are truly truthful from a religious point of view. Therefore, in the light of these lessons, we should have an eye to deeply insight into our own lives. Only then can we ultimately look to Christ, our Savior.
