Hymn: 456 (Hymn 430) 'Walking with the Lord'
Meditation: Are you walking with God? If so, in what form are you traveling together?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: "Enoch was sixty-five years old when he begot Methuselah" (Genesis 5:21-24).
Right before the flood judgment, all were rebellious people. But even among them, Enoch walked with God for 300 years and eventually ascended to heaven without seeing death. What does a life that walks with God really mean?
It is a life of close relationship with God. The most important thing in the life of faith is the presence of God. It is done in an intimate relationship with God. Enoch's walk with God did not stop with believing that God was with him. It refers to living in close fellowship and conversation with God. Intimate fellowship with God can be achieved through continuous prayer and the Word. By living in fellowship with God anytime, anywhere without rest, you can not only live a life of walking with God but also a happy and loving life.
A life that pleases God is a life that accompanies us. Enoch lived a life that was pleasing to God. “By faith Enoch was taken away so that he might not see death, because God had removed him, and he was found no more. To say that he did this means that he lived a life of walking with God. To please God is to know His heart and live a life after His heart. It is absurd to say that we go together even though we do not agree. Enoch was an ordinary man with a flesh like ours. By agreeing with God and following his will, he was able to please him and walk with him.
A life of diligently witnessing to God is a life that accompanies us. A life that walks with God means that we always testify of the God who is with us. Enoch, who had fellowship with God and walked with God, knew that God would soon judge a world where sin was pervasive, and he lived a life of prophesying and witnessing. Beloved, I hope that you, like Enoch, live a blessed life that pleases God through a life of witnessing and intimate fellowship with God.
Prayer: Faithful Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise to accompany me, not alone in this difficult world. Pray that we may walk in close fellowship with God and live a life that pleases God. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
