Title: Like the Lord
Bible: John 13:12-17
Starting Point of the Word>>
This time, we would like to share a message with the title of “Like the Lord.”
Example>>
One of Japan's leading Christian figures is Toyohiko Kagawa.
While eating at the first meeting, he broke down and spilled blood on the table.
At that moment, Toyohiko Kagawa personally met the Lord.
By the grace of the Lord, the lung disease that tormented him was healed, and he entered the seminary and served the sick, poor, and suffering people throughout his life.
He laid down his life as a life of service and service for the poor in Kobe and Tokyo.
It is said that the most painful thing for the poor is constipation.
The stool is hardened like a stone in the anus, so it does not come out.
Then put on the gloves and rub it with your hands.
Toyohiko Kagawa patted the anus of the poor with his fingers, but if it didn't work, he put his mouth on the anus of the poor and melted the hardened feces with saliva and sucked it out.
“How can you do that?”
Then he answers.
“I do what I learn. My teacher even wiped away my bloody blood. This is nothing compared to what he did.”
After moving to China, Toyohiko Kagawa lived the same life for the poor in China.
At that time, First Lady Song Mi-ryeong, wife of President Chiang Kai-shek, was moved by him and was taught through a Bible study.
When Japan was defeated in 1945, the Japanese withdrew with the Japanese army, but not a single person was attacked by the Chinese.
Because President Chiang Kai-shek has issued a decree that anyone who harms the withdrawing Japanese will be punished with severe punishment.
He was able to bear fruit even in difficult circumstances because he acted as Jesus Christ did.
His actions were taught by Jesus Christ and stemmed from Jesus.
Today's text introduces the incident where Jesus washed the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper.
The act of Jesus washing the disciples' feet shocked them.
In Jewish society at that time, it was customary to wash feet before eating, and washing feet was a servant's job.
But Jesus got up from where he was having dinner, suddenly took off his outer garment, put a towel around his waist, filled a basin with water, and began to wash the disciples' feet.
It was only natural that the disciples were surprised by the Lord's work as a servant.
At that time, the disciples were arguing over who was the greatest.
Jesus' actions as a servant sharply pierced the hearts of the disciples.
While washing the disciples' feet, Jesus taught by example, “Do as I have done.”

What Jesus wants to teach you through these actions is as follows.
First, it is to ‘be humble’ like the Lord.
If we look at verse 12,
“After he washed their feet, he put on his clothes and sat down again, and said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?”
Says.
Jesus' life was humble.
Regarding his work, Jesus said, “I did not come to be served, but to serve.”
Serving is possible only when we humble ourselves.
You cannot serve in an elevated state.
It is easy for a subordinate to be humble to a superior, but it is really difficult for a superior to do that to a subordinate.
But Jesus, the Master, washed the feet of his disciples with humble humility.
When we feel proud of the disciples, we should think of Jesus washing their feet.
Also, to be humble, you have to work hard.
This is because we are more inclined to be treated than to be humble.
The disciples at that time were full of pride that wanted to be exalted.
At this time, Jesus lowered himself to the position of a servant and washed the disciples' feet.
Heaven is a gathering of humble people who want to wash each other's feet.
To serve, you must first be a foot washer.
Peter, shocked by Jesus' actions when he washed the disciples' feet, said in 1 Peter 5:5, "You young people, in the same way, submit to the elders, and all of you gird yourself with humility toward one another. God opposes the proud, but let the humble He gives grace to them.”
It is humility that we cannot overemphasize no matter how much we emphasize it.
Therefore, I hope that we too will become believers who become humble like the Lord.
Second, it is to ‘serve’ with the Lord.
If we look at the words of verse 14,
“Because I have washed your feet as Lord and Teacher, it is right that you also wash one another’s feet.”
I did.
To wash one's feet, the servant serves his master, and the lowly serves the high.
Jesus, who came to this earth in a physical body, washed the disciples' feet.
However, the disciples did not serve others because of their desire to become great, but rather ignored them.
Serving is the flower and completion of faith.
There is love in service, humility in service, and gentleness in service.
Blessed are you when you live a life of service.
If we look at verse 17,
“Blessed are you if you know these things and do them.”
says the Lord.
Since the church is a place governed by the presence of God, everyone must remain silent before God's authority.
Also, do not put yourself out there and serve with humility.
Saints should strive to serve one another.
The more people in charge of the office, the more humble they should be and serve.
There is no position to be treated, any one of them.
Rather, it was given to serve.
Just as the darkness reveals the existence of light, we must show the light of Christ through the life of service.
We believe that the church will become a more loving community only when we serve in Jesus.
I hope that you will become believers who will be used to expand the kingdom of God by practicing a life of service.
Third, it is to ‘set an example’ like the Lord.
If we look at the words of verse 15,
“I set an example that you should do as I have done to you.”
Says.
Jesus didn't just teach, he showed by action.
Before dinner, he got up from his seat, took off his coat, put a towel around his waist, washed the disciples' feet, and wiped them with the towel.
The act of Jesus washing his feet was the best service given the circumstances at the time.
In Jewish society at that time, washing feet was the job of the lowest servant.
Never in Jewish history has a master washed the feet of his disciples and a master washed the feet of a servant.
However, while Jesus was the Master and Master, he washed the disciples' feet.
He didn't think about his status or position, he only thought about serving.
We, too, should follow the image of Jesus and become a model saint.
There are many people in the church who act consciously of themselves.
We must realize that no matter how high or great the position, we are inferior to Jesus, the King of kings.
If you only think about serving like Jesus, you can't do anything, and who can't be with?
Paul said that ye imitate me as i imitate Christ.
For our life to be a blessed life, a mark for Jesus must appear.
We must set an example by acting like the heart of Jesus and the thoughts of Jesus.
During this time, I hope that all of our members will live a life that sets an example like Jesus.
At the end of the speech>>
Example>>
The students asked Dr. Stephen Olford of Columbia Theological Seminary.
“Tell us the secret of Christian leadership!”
Dr. Olford answers the students.
“The secret? Get down on your knees. Let tears flow in your eyes. And be patient when your heart breaks. And serve others!”
In other words, he said that Christian leadership consists in serving.
When Jesus, the King of kings, washed the feet of his disciples, he told them to become imitators of me.
At this time, may we all be humbled and humbled as Jesus did.
May we live serving one another as Jesus did.
I pray in the name of the Lord that all of our saints, who do not be conscious of themselves, act only for Jesus Christ and become an example for everyone.
