Title: Prepared Disciple Like Timothy Bible: Acts 16:1-5
There are closed doors and open doors for God's work. That door is either opened or closed according to God's will. If God closes the door, who can open it? Conversely, if God opens the door, who can close it? Now is the time when God has opened the door. At this time when the door is open, I pray that our church will be diligent in evangelism, missionary work, and become a church, family, and image that fulfills his righteousness in the kingdom of God.
1. Timothy, a disciple of Jesus whom we met at Lystra
Today's text Acts 16:1 - "When Paul came to Derbe and Lystra, there was a disciple named Timothy, whose mother was a believing Jewish woman and her father was a Greek." Paul's second missionary journey was from Jerusalem to Lystra. Arrived and the second missionary journey began in Lystra.
1) Lystra is the place in Acts 14 where a person who was crippled from birth was healed in the name of Jesus during the first missionary journey. Acts 14:8 - "In Lystra there was a man sitting with crippled feet, and he was born crippled and never walked." 9-10 - "When he heard what Paul was saying, Paul paid attention to him and had faith that saved him. When he saw it there, he said with a loud voice, “Stand up on your feet.” And the man got up and walked.
2) It is the place where the Jews were stoned to death and then rose again (Acts 14:19-20)
2. Like Timothy, a prepared disciple, God uses prepared people as great workers.
As the end of the year approaches and the new year approaches, we check the workers who will be responsible for each area of the church, which is the body of the Lord, in the new year. For example, if you want to select a worker to manage church repairs, fixtures, and electricity, you must 1) have a license, 2) have skills, or 3) be willing to commit. Timothy can know that God is a prepared worker through training.
「Conclusion」The meeting between Paul and Timothy was God's blessing to work as a great worker in the mission of the early church.
