Text: 2 Timothy 4:3-8
Looking forward to the closing day...
Ecclesiastes 3 says, “For every purpose under heaven there is a time to be born, and a time to die, and a time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.” Now we are looking forward to the day of settlement when all things will have to settle. For example, if you make a mistake while drawing a picture, you can erase it and redraw it. If you go on a road and go wrong, you can find the right path with the help of a navigation system. But our lives are different. You only have one chance, and once it passes, you can't erase it or turn it back. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, so if you live wrong, all that's left is regret. This is the purpose of today's text homily. In the not-too-distant future, when I stand before the Lord, I seriously think about what kind of financial report I will stand with, and I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will have a blessed time.
I. You must know the right time and live your life right.
II. You must win the good fight.
2nd place in a war is a loser. A loser has only a terrible ordeal. In particular, believers must fight and win in the good fight. God only rewards those who overcome. But this battle is not a battle of blood and flesh, but a good fight. This is a spiritual battle, and it means a spiritual battle. The battle of the saints is not a battle of flesh and blood. It's a fight with yourself. It is a battle between the Word and prayer. This fight is by no means an easy one. Even a clergyman sometimes finds it difficult to pray in the morning. Early morning prayer is difficult if you work outside all day and go to bed late at night. The business of morning prayer is to go to bed early. Believers must always fight and win the good fight, armed with the Word and prayer. The battle of the saints is a spiritual battle. I pray that you will always win in the good fight, in the name of the Lord.
III. You have to run until you finish the way to run.
Paul said, “I have finished my course…” This means that he ran and ran until he had finished his course. A marathon runner must run from the starting point to the final finish point. You have to start well and run well on the way. But the most important thing is to run to the final finish line. The winner is determined by who gets to the finish line first. So when you see the finish line, you run and run with all your might. Dear saints, Don't forget to run and run until the very end. Some Saints are not good at first, but run better over time. It is the image of a victorious saint.
IV. You must keep your faith forever.
Keeping our faith is like an athlete following the rules of the game. The game must always be played according to the law, and no matter how well done, if the player does not play according to the law, it will be invalid. Anyone who does not keep the faith and deviate from the law of faith cannot lead a blessed life. That's why Paul said, "I kept the faith to the end." To keep the faith means to keep the faith, and to live according to the faith. He also said that he kept the faith, but kept it to the end. Paul taught that there is success and victory only through keeping the faith, this way. That's right. Above all, in this age when the truth is becoming turbid, we must strive to keep our faith as lifelike. I hope in the name of the Lord that you, the community of faith, will keep your faith according to God's word until the last moment without any exception.
