title love

Love (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

There is a song called Love is the Seed of Tears. It refers to the failure of selfish love in the world.

It is a characteristic of secularism that not only that love but also the glory of politics, economy, society and culture become seeds of tears later. However, if you resemble God's love, you will not regret it.

There are 4 Greek words for love.

1) stovrgh - brotherhood, brotherhood

2) Eros (e[rw") - rational love between a man and a woman

3) filiva - ideological, friendship

4) Agape (ajgavph) - God's love, self-giving

1. The most precious thing in the world

In the last verse of this chapter, which represents the nature of Christian love,13 "Therefore, these three things will always exist, but the greatest of these is love."

Let's take a closer look starting with Section 1.

1 “If I speak in human tongues and angels, but without love, I become a sounding copper and a ringing horn.

- To value the gifts themselves without love means to make a loud noise like Kwaenggwari. Blind, mechanical doctrines and philosophical meanings are not heard in the heart. It means to speak with love.

The history of the church is very confused, especially with regard to tongues.

When the church was first established, after Jesus ascended to heaven, the remaining 120 disciples prayed wholeheartedly in the attic of Mark's house for 10 days, and the promised Holy Spirit came like fire, and a special miracle occurred, allowing them to speak each language at once. It is seen as a unique work of God attempted as a means of evangelism. But there are denominations who believe that it will continue to happen, which is problematic. In reality, it doesn't happen very well.

There are three times in the Bible that when the Holy Spirit came, people spoke in tongues or special events occurred.

(1) On the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:),

(2) And in Cornelius’s family (Acts 10:),

(3) And the so-called Pentecost of Ephesus (Acts 19:), the Holy Spirit came upon Apollos, who had only been baptized with water by John and did not receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

And there is no record of repeating such a transitional event in the Bible record, and there is no record that the special history of Acts continued or repeated as the history of the church continued after that. It was created to shake the sound religious life or to fall into mysticism.

We do not see that the history of the early church, when the founding of the Christian church was attempted, continues to be evented in that way in the organized history of the church. It did not mean that the Reformers and the leaders who had a lot of sound and capable did not necessarily speak in tongues or displayed miracles.

Luther, Calvin, Knox, Thomas, Machen, and other theologians and martyrs and many of the servants who contributed to the culture did not necessarily stand out in the world with tongues or miraculousism. It can be seen that the spirit of the cross of Christ demonstrated the power of various devoted labors.

God can do anything if it is necessary, but it is right to avoid trying to handle it with gifts, abilities, and miraculousism, as the intent is to be fascinated by the so-called cold-bloodingism or shock therapy.

2 I have the power to prophesy, so I know all mysteries and all knowledge, and even if I have all the faith that can move mountains, but without love, I am nothing. It means that climbing a big mountain is more important than faith.

3 Even if I give with all that I have, and if I give my body to be burned, it is of no use to me without love.” will be

The scene of the Lord's tour of the 7 churches in Asia and the evaluation of those churches is recorded in Revelation 2-3 received. The church must be founded on love.

2. Unconditional love

Human love is always conditional. They meet the conditions one by one and get married. It is the illusion that you need to have economy and fame to live well

Verses 4-7 of the text tell us about the practice of God's love.

4“Love endures long, love is gentle, does not envy, love does not boast, it is not arrogant To feel sorry for others as superior to oneself is envy.

5 It is not rude, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

6 They do not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoice in the truth- The Bible prophesies that love will grow colder in the world. It is the result of love without rules.

Matthew 24:12 “The love of many will grow cold, because iniquity will increase.”

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things

In order to have this kind of love, God had to give up various expectations of humans. So, God gave His Son to the world to be a sin offering to save people.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 5:8 “God demonstrates his love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

In this way, God loved us unconditionally. We do not deserve to be loved, but we received the love that saved us unconditionally. When a Christian saves the world and loves the world, he shouldn't be subject to such conditions.

1) I am moved when I receive that love because it is unconditional.

It is to love us even though our conditions are not suitable. I am thrilled when I receive that love.

Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

2) It is unconditional love that comes as a player

The world always receives love in such a way that the words that come are good, and the words that go are beautiful, and then they are given relative to each other. However, God did not think about coming back and started to love. When Jesus came to us, there was no waiting, but he came first.

1 John 4:19 “We love because he first loved us.”

3) It is unconditional and cannot but be devoted

God is omnipotent and can save mankind no matter what he does. However, because He is the Lord of justice, He paid for our sins and saved us. The retribution was the sacrifice of your Son for our sins.

Hebrews 9:22 “According to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.”

Acts 20:28 “Beware of yourselves or for the whole flock, for the Holy Spirit has made you overseers among them over the church, which God bought with his own blood.” Agape love is very difficult to practice and it must be devoted to it.

3. Immutable and Eternal

The love of the world can change even if it is a brother. But God's love is unchanging. It does not change because it is not a love made for self-greed, but a love that only the other person thought of.

In verses 8-10 of the text,

8“Love will never fail, but prophecy will pass away, tongues will cease, knowledge will pass away.

9 We know in part and prophesy in part.

10 When the perfect comes, the partial will be destroyed.”

The affairs of the world are always buried with history. Religious activities will all disappear. However, it is God's love that will exist forever and ever. That agape love lasts even in heaven. Such is the nature of God. Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were created, before you formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

That is why the Bible tells us to long for the greater gifts, but 1 Corinthians 12:31 says, “Look after the greater gifts, and I will show you the best way” refers to the love in 1 Corinthians 13. is. 1 Corinthians 14:1 “Ask after love…”

The Bible says We are told to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. We teach that those who love God must love their neighbor first.

1 John 4:20 “If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar, and he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.”

1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love one another zealously, for love covers a multitude of sins.” We want this love of God to be the fundamental foundation of our faith. In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that the center of a devoted life of love in the selfish world becomes a philosophy of blessing that can enrich our lives and obtain peace.
