Title Manasseh
Contents
title; Manasseh
Bible; 2 Kings 21:10-18 (Old.600)
Manasseh means 'forget'. Manasseh was the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and his mother was Hepziba. Manasseh succeeded his father Hezekiah as king, and he reigned for 55 years, the longest reign in all of the northern and southern dynasties. Manasseh ascended to the throne at the age of 12, but he did not have the ability to judge for himself, so he had no choice but to enter into government affairs with the advice and advice of the military gods.
Unfortunately, Manasseh was influenced by the pro-Assyrians to accept Assyrian culture both politically and religiously. He did not inherit the faith of his good father and fell into pagan gods and idolatry due to the invisible pressure of wrong servants. Therefore, he rebuilt the high places and altars that his father Hezekiah had demolished, and made altars and images of Baal and Asherah to deviate from idolatry. He even sacrificed a man and sacrificed his son.
1. Wicked King Manasseh (15-16)
He was an evil king in the eyes of Jehovah God. What God recognizes as evil
He often uses this expression when he leaves God or worships idols. However, God, who rarely makes such expressions, says Manasseh is evil through the prophet Isaiah, because the number of idol worshipers increases under his influence.
1) idolatry (11)
Through idolatry, they committed abominations. In particular, he made the descendants of Judah to sin before God. Judas is the tribe where Jesus will be born, and now contains Satan's plan to destroy the descendants of Judah by making the people of Judah sin. Also, the people of Judah are unconditionally bowing down to and serving idols without questioning when the king tells them to bow down to idols. Even today, there are people who worship idols without knowing what they mean according to their habits because they have been following idols since they were young, rather than worshiping idols because they liked them from the beginning. I don't know what it means to offer a sacrifice, I don't know who I am bowing to, I don't know why I'm reading the congratulatory text, and I'm not good at it in the usual way that I do it because other people do it.
All of these things are detestable to God. He made his descendants do detestable things, and forced even the descendants of Judah to worship idols, and God was not pleased with Manasseh's attitude.
They are more idolatrous than the Gentiles, the Amorites. God did not like the way these people worshiped idols because their lives became more Canaanites than the people of the land of Canaan, the homeland of idols. Please stop bowing down to your idols, which is not pleasing to God.
2) Evil in the sight of God (16)
God sees the attitude of the Jewish people, especially Manasseh, as evil, who worshiped idols more than the Canaanites, whom God hated. And to shed the blood of the innocent, and to be filled with the blood of the innocent. God's wrath was provoked. He was a man who did not have a place in every corner of God's heart.
The sin of serving the Sun, Moon, and Holy Ghosts of heaven, who rebuilds the high places that Hezekiah had torn down, and making Asherah poles to worship, became evil in the sight of God. (3) God destroyed the idols of Hezekiah and demolished the high places. Hezekiah was regarded as the king he loved the most, but his son Manasseh did evil by rebuilding and bowing down to idols that God detested.
2. God's Prophecy
God sent Isaiah to prophesy about Israel, which is full of evil, especially Manasseh. Following Hezekiah, Isaiah also proclaimed God's prophecy to Manasseh.
1) Calamity will come.(12)
I will bring calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah. When God's calamity comes, the prophetic words that the ears of those who hear will ring will be delivered. Because God spoke to the prophet Isaiah, we are boldly proclaiming it. God does not punish us by striking a dry sky on the spot because we have made a mistake, but waits for us. Wait patiently. until you come back If you look at the history of the Bible, God intervenes and judges when you do not turn after sending a warning rather than a sudden disaster. Even when God brings disaster on Pharaoh, He gives time and waits. Then, at the decisive moment, he killed his son, the prince. If you ignore God's warning and run, God will touch you. You're going to take a big hit. Obedience to God's Word is the greatest blessing. It is a life without loss.
2) I will wash away Jerusalem.(13)
God will use a plumbing line to measure Samaria and use the plumb line for Ahab's house to be used on Jerusalem, and he will wash Jerusalem like a vessel that a man has washed upside down. I will filter out all of them so that no one can escape from God's calamity and without any preference. Just as the water dries up and washes away if you wipe it upside down, God's judgment will come upon Judah, which was ruled by Manasseh. The words of God's prophecies are not false. And God is responsible for everything that He proclaims. Even now, looking at the people who are still in sin, God decides the judgment, but the judgment of God's wrath is not proceeding because the Lord intercedes for us at the right hand of God, and that giving a little more opportunity can rescue more souls. is.
3) I will give it into the hand of the enemy. (14)
He will cast away the remnant of God's inheritance. And I will put it into the hand of the enemy. I will make you plunder and plunder from your enemies. We hated our actions and were thrown away. Guys, who would love us the most if we were abandoned by God? Everyone, if you want to be abandoned by God, do nothing and believe in nothing, especially those who do not believe in God and believe in God. You will be afflicted by the neighboring countries, and you will be abandoned by the people around you, and the final destination will be decided. As adults, we have responsibilities, duties, and basic things to do. If you don't do those things, you're an adult physically, but you're a child mentally.
4) Triggered the wrath of God (15)
The things that are not forgiven are recorded by God. But God does not remember that we are forgiven. God's wrath was aroused. That is, the wrath of God was thrown out. The people, especially Manasseh, worshiped idols and acted evil in the sight of God. No one can stop the wrath of God once fired. It tells how much Israel's sin caused God's wrath. God's Response to Sin We see God's dislike for sin. The sin applied to them is from the time they came out of Egypt. If we do not repent of our sins before God, God will apply our sins from the time we came out of Egypt. Therefore, we must repent of our sins.
3. God forgiving
It was an act of extreme apostasy toward God, and Manasseh's ferocious conduct resulted in a cruel rule stained with the blood of the innocent from one end of Jerusalem to the other. In the end, as predicted by the prophets, Manasseh was taken to Babylon, bound in chains, and punished by God. However, because of his repentance to God in the last years of his life, even though he was a deviant king, he received God's mercy and mercy and received the grace of continuing the throne.
Even an evil king like Manasseh, if he repents of his sins before God, God forgives his sins and shows him mercy.
prayer of determination
1. I want to become a people who fall into idols and do not receive God's wrath.
2, Thank God for His mercy.
