1. Rest and peace are found after a tiring day. (35-36)
※ It was that evening when Jesus found rest and peace.
※ “Let’s cross over to the other side”
Jesus' tiredness of being responsible for, controlling, and teaching the crowds all day long demanded rest and peace.
※ “Take them as they are in the ship” (36)
Except for rest and peace, food, a change of clothes, and information to the family could not be a problem.
※ Jesus was so tired that he fell asleep even in the storm.(380
※ “Other ships were also with them” (36), which is not found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
Mark wrote this to emphasize the divinity of Jesus, the Son of God.
2. Rest and peace are related to Jesus. (37-39)
※ Rest and peace or the experience can be experienced even in the great storm when it comes to Jesus.
One). Rest and peace can be experienced even in the storm. (37-38)
※ “Giant Wind” is
① A storm with thunder and black clouds rolling and mixing with each other,
② A storm that violently throws away everything standing on the road with strong winds,
③ It refers to a storm accompanied by huge raindrops that fall to the ground like small bullets.
※ The concept of the original word (Hell) is like the intensity of a storm. These violent storms occurred regularly on the Sea of Galilee.
(Mark 1:16, Matthew 8:24, Luke 8:23)
※ Even in the midst of all the commotion, he enjoyed rest and peace with others and nature itself.
* Being in God's care, the ship was able to rest through the storm.
2). Rest and peace were associated with Jesus. (38-39)
※ The disciples were skilled fishermen. They had encountered a storm before, and this storm was more intense and they feared that they would die of being unable to handle it on their own.
※ “Do you not care that we perish?” (38) They confessed that they were dying.
* As very capable fishermen, they tried to deal with themselves, but confessed their incompetence and the need for His help.
* They broke their pride and came to Jesus. delayed too long But Jesus got up on his own
heard their confessions.
※ An important factor that determines whether or not a request for salvation is heard by Jesus is the heart that truly needs it. This is an earnest plea for help. a cry it is supplication
※ Jesus' response to the disciples' plea was dramatic.
① “Wake up” ② “The wind rebuked him... and it stopped” ③ “He said to the sea… and it was calm”
※ “Be still and be still” literally means “to bridle”. It shows the severity and ferocity of the storm, while emphasizing the dramatic action of Jesus.
