Free, Matthew 10:5-15
New water comes out only when the well water is continuously pumped. Standing water will rot, but running water will not rot. Water should flow.
In the same way, the economy and economy are revitalized only when material and money continue to return. Excessive consumption saving and restraint leads to a recession in domestic demand, which on the contrary freezes the economy and adversely affects the economy that should be revitalized. These days, the Japanese yen has plummeted and has a huge impact on our economy, and many experts say that is the fundamental reason.
Therefore, investment should be activated along with the establishment of a healthy consumption culture, and goodwill investment in a mutually beneficial climate, that is, relief measures should be actively developed. In this regard, today's text gives us a good lesson. This text is a message given by Jesus when he sent out his disciples, and it is a lesson about the object, method, and preparation for evangelism. He said that he received freely, but freely gave. What lessons do these verses teach us today?
1. An evangelist must be a giver.
First, the evangelist must become a giver. The reason Jesus said to evangelists to “give freely” is because evangelism can be done properly and easily only when an evangelist is a free giver. First of all, the most important thing to do in evangelism is to form a close relationship, and there is nothing that can be approached as easily as giving away for free.
God has shown his love as a giver. He gave the heavens and the earth to us, and even gave up his own son to us for those who betrayed his grace. In addition, Jesus carried out the gospel ministry by giving freely in his public life. Through the miracle of five fish, He gave us food, healed diseases, cast out demons, and even gave His body and life for the forgiveness of our sins. And “become a giver. Blessed is the one who gives.”
The Lord teaches through the Sermon on the Mount, and He said that the first thing in the religious life of the citizens of heaven is God-centered salvation that he sees in secret. Also in the parable of the sheep and goats, good sheep whose deeds give food to the hungry and drink to the thirsty. It is shown as giving. What about the golden rule in Matthew 7:12? “Whatever you would like others to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Yes. The Lord continued to say, “Give freely” through the many teachings, and the early church who received this word worked hard on this very free giving and accomplished the work of evangelism and great revival.
2. Give, but give freely.
The word “free” in verse 8 is “doreian” in the original Greek, which comes from “didomi” and means “as a gift”. And this includes the meaning of being pure, without price, without asking for anything in return. Jesus also said that it was because the evangelist had to give freely because he received it freely. This word is a reminder of the attitude and nature of the evangelists by saying that they should not use the power for evangelism for selfishness. To the extent that God has given us freely, we must give them freely. In fact, what can we call our own in our lives? These are all things that God has freely given to us by the grace of God. As Job confessed, if we confess with faith that we are naked from our mother's womb, so it is natural to return naked, and it is the Lord who gave and the Lord who took away. And the lessons of Ananias and Sapphira, who were sad because they did good deeds but were not thorough enough to overcome greed in the end, are also alarming in that respect. Since we received freely, we ought to give freely.
3. Blessed are those who give freely.
Also, Jesus, who said to give freely, tells his disciples that they do not need the travel supplies of the evangelist (verse 9). You did. This means that if an evangelist works in accordance with God's will, God's principle is that God will provide the necessary materials. So Credanus said, "The evangelist must go forward knowing that God will consider a livelihood for him." God's principle is that if you give, you give back in abundance.
You know the difference between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea only accepts and never gives up. As a result, did it not become a dead sea where no life lived? However, Galilee that gives back as much as it accepts is different. It is home to a wealth of fish families, and it is truly the lifeline of the barren wilderness of Israel. Where is the difference? That is the difference between receiving and not giving and giving freely. In Acts 20:35, Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” That's right. It is certainly more blessed to give than to receive. Since we have received freely, we must give freely. This is the principle adopted by Jesus Christ, who gave all things.
Not long ago, we were moved to watch Hyundai Group's honorary Chairman Ju-Young Chung load 500 cows into a truck and pass through Panmunjom directly into the northern part of the country. And as a result, a new mood of reconciliation is now being created between the two Koreas. It is said that a cruise ship on Mt. Kumgang is preparing to depart, and the inter-Korean economic cooperation has opened up, so they have agreed to build a new industrial complex by assembling and producing automobiles in North Korea.
Where did these results come from? Isn't this giving away new trust and creating a new atmosphere of reconciliation? German reunification did not happen overnight. Before German reunification, the West German Church and the West German government simply helped East Germany tremendously. It was given to East Germany for free. As a result, the long-awaited day of reunification had to come. In the field of free love, an amazing new work has been accomplished.
Although 50 years have passed since division, we need to reflect deeply on why only the Korean Peninsula has not yet been reunified. Those who have it must first give freely. We must bear in mind that the IMF situation given to us today is also the result of our greed and selfishness. Since ancient times, there has been a breeze of 'Even a piece of soybean is shared with each other'. Now is the time to have the heart and practice to share even a single piece of beans. It's time to give for free.
Jesus looked at the crowd of more than 5,000 and said to his disciples: “Give them something to eat” (Matthew 14:16). Before the miracle of the five people, the first command and demand was to give us something to eat. Today, let's listen to that command with the voice of the Lord giving to each of us and this national church. Therefore, since we received it free of charge, let's become a free giver and overcome this crisis with love through evangelism and a Christian life of almsgiving, and give glory to God. So, I pray that you will accomplish the work of new restoration and revival of this national church and live a life overflowing with the blessings you promised to give to those who are free in each of our lives.
