Contents

Matthew 18:15-20 In whose name~ ! Subject: 22. love. 2008. 11. 16.

Introduction

: To sin against a brother is a matter of great concern to God. It is so serious that if a sinning brother refuses to heal him, he must be severely disciplined (17)

Things to keep in mind when dealing with brothers as discipline

① It is a fact that a brother who sins is also a brother. ②The crime is personal.

God wants peace (peace with brothers, peace within the church) to be restored.

If a brother refuses to reconcile and correct his mistake, there is no need to put up with the fuss any more.

1. Try to reconcile (15-16)

2. Discipline your brother. (17-18)

3. Solve the problem through prayer (19-20)

1. Try to reconcile (15-16)

We must not wait for our sinning brother to come to us.

The first step to correcting a brother who has sinned is to try to reconcile. (15)

One). Go alone to the brother and “advise him” (15)

Because we may not know what he did wrong and sin against us.

Other things, such as poisoning, holding a grudge, or becoming a bitter root and trying to get revenge. Therefore, it must be resolved desperately.

① He must go alone.

* Sharing with others can deepen, intensify, and foe separation and feelings.

② “Only with you and that person” is a word that suggests how to approach him.

* Go forward expressing a desire to resolve the problem and eventually be reconciled (Matt. 5:24; Phil 2:3; 2 Tim. 2:14, 24).

When a brother sins against us, our reaction is

① egocentric reaction ② reaction to step back ③ reaction to gossip ④ reaction to retaliation, etc.

2). Bring witnesses to your brother (16)

Brothers who sin are captivated by selfish and sinful motives and actions. Therefore, they may be reluctant to admit their faults, or they may not reconcile.

In such cases you should go with one or two loving and wise brethren.

① It shows that he cares deeply for the brother (wants to take care and help).

② It means that the crime has already been known to some people.

③ We can provide objective and wise counseling to two different groups.

④ Prejudice, personal reactions, or sectarian interests can be prevented.

3). You have to tell the church.

The way to commit a crime

① With his actions and Christian liberty,

② By confronting him directly,

③By slandering him from behind,

(4) commit a crime by violating his or her rights or possessions;

A brother who had a personal quarrel with another brother must be disciplined if three facts exist

①If he continues to openly disobey God,

②If he continues to be captivated by selfishness, greed, and earthly things,

③If he refuses after three attempts to reconcile according to the procedure

What is discipline? : A brother who divides should be treated as he has done (as an outsider as a stranger and a publican).

2. Discipline your brother. (17-18)

The Lord says two things in dealing with the issue of chasing a brother who sins.

One). There is a worldly punishment. (17)

If the guilty brother refuses to reconcile despite the appeals of one or two people, bring the matter to the church and make it public.

Bringing one person's problem to the church is a serious problem. When will we discuss?

* When you know for sure, when you can be absolutely certain, when you are ready to admit it.

2). As for chastisement, it is also confirmed in heaven. (18)

Heaven's discipline against separated brothers is the same as earthly discipline.

People and churches do not have the power to put people to destruction or to save them and set them free.

The meaning of discipline is a person who is lost in the church. He has nothing to do with the church.

If the church fails to find him, he is bound to the ground. will be treated as foreigners. Therefore, God regards him as an outsider and bound to sin.

If he is “released” from the bondage of sin by the church visiting him, then heaven also considers him to be freed.

God will accept him again as a saved brother.
