Title Matthew 22:1-14
Today's text is one of Jesus' parables about the kingdom of heaven (1-2). From the words of this parable, we can learn some facts about the kingdom of heaven. First, the kingdom of heaven is like a perfect feast that God has set up. Verse 4 says, “I prepared the supper, I slaughtered my cattle and my fat animals, and I had everything ready.
Second, the people God first invited to this kingdom of heaven were judged unworthy of the kingdom of heaven because they were more interested in personal matters or even hostile to the kingdom of heaven. In verses 5-6, it is said, “They did not look after them, one to his field and one to his business/ and the rest seized and insulted and killed their servants.” do" he said.
Third, the people who have received God's invitation and do not respond to it will inevitably face God's wrath and judgment. Verse 7 says, "The king was angry and sent his army to destroy the murderers and burn the town with fire."
Fourth, God invited all other people to heaven instead of the people who showed indifference and non-response to the first request. In verses 9-10, it says, “Go to the four-way street and invite everyone you meet to the wedding banquet.
Fifth, no matter how much you have been invited to heaven, you must wear the robes that God will approve in order to be accepted by God. Verses 11-14 say it: "When the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there without a robe, and said, "Friend, why did you come in here without a robe?" And he said nothing. Bind his hands and feet and throw them into the darkness outside, where they will weep and grind their teeth.” For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Here, we can confirm that we were originally called to heaven by the grace of God, although we were not originally qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven. However, we also know that just because we are invited does not mean that everyone will be accepted into heaven unconditionally. Those who do not wear the robes that God requires will inevitably be rejected by Heaven. Therefore, we have to ask ourselves whether we are wearing the robes to enter the kingdom of God, and it is important to know what the robes refer to.
