Title [Matthew 28:16-20] Last Words
Jesus taught many lessons while on earth. Among them, words such as wills are recorded in the text. I hope that there will be new emotions and service during this time of worship while celebrating and glorifying the resurrected Jesus.
1. There was a disciple who was suspicious of the risen Lord (17)
It is not easy to believe and live in the resurrection. He was a disciple who had been educated by Jesus for three years, but he was a disciple who was seeing the risen Jesus now, but he said he doubted it. But it is unacceptable that we do not believe. Because there are solid reasons to believe it. Although the Sadducees believed in God, they denied the resurrection of the dead. Jesus' words to those who argue in an artificial way are important answers. He said, “Are you not mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?” (Mark 12:24).
① Those who do not believe in the Bible are not believers. Also, if you believe in the Bible, you have no choice but to believe in the resurrection of the dead. Because the Bible clearly testifies to the resurrection of the dead. Christianity is the religion of life. Because death is the result of sin, we have been given a new life through the merits of Jesus who solved the problem of sin, so it is the life that comes from the resurrection. As such, the Bible does not need any rational theories or scientific evidence to prove it.
② Those who do not believe in the power of God are not true Christians. The Bible clearly shows the power of God. The work of creation is a representative event that shows the omnipotence of God. The core of that work is the creation of life. No matter how beautiful an image is made, it is meaningless if life is not given to it. God created the universe and created life in it. If you believe in the power of God, there is no reason not to believe in the resurrection. Since we believe in the Bible and believe in the power of God, let us be sure of the resurrection.
2. He urged us to build the Church of God (19-20a).
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” This means to build and expand the church.
② He commanded us to baptize in the name of the Triune God. It is important to share the gospel and lead them to the church, but it is even more important to get them baptized. Baptism is the outward evidence that sins have been washed away, and it is a holy ceremony given to those who profess faith, that is, those who firmly believe in Jesus. More important than the ceremony is the confession. It means to become a true confessor of faith. The church is a gathering of believers. We have a mission to help and guide all those who come to the church to make a profession of faith. To do that, we need to provide opportunities to listen to God's word a lot.
③ I told them to teach them to keep them. A mature believer is a believer with action. To do that, you have to study hard. You have to train to put into practice what you learn. Faith without works is a dead faith, but there are many people in this dead state among the modern church members. I hope that our members will become mature members who listen to the Word and practice it, and loyal members who make the true church.
3. You promised to always be with us until the end of the world.
After the resurrected Jesus was in the world for 40 days, he went to heaven. And the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, came into the world. It was to be with us always. Let's not forget that the Lord is always with us as He promised. Also, with this conviction, let us face any adversity without fear and confidently face it. The Lord's final words are twofold. One is to build a church, and the other is a promise to be together. We earnestly hope that all of us will grow the church steadily by preaching the gospel with confidence that the Lord is with us. This is the mission of all of us to celebrate and celebrate the Resurrection.
