1. The Resurrection Hour and First Witnesses (1)

One). Resurrection Hour (1)

“The Sabbath is over” means that the Sabbath ends at 6pm and Saturday night is coming.

* This is a common concept of time. It simply means that day is followed by night.

① Jesus rose from the dead on the first day after the Sabbath (the first day of the week, Sunday morning).

② Jesus was resurrected before the sun rose on a Sunday morning before dawn. So, whether they worshiped on the Sabbath (Saturday), they abandoned the custom and began to worship on Sunday, the day the Lord was resurrected.

③ The resurrection of Jesus on Sunday morning, the first day of the week, means that He rose again on the third day as He said.

④ Because he was in the tomb on the Sabbath, he could not keep the law to keep the Passover and the Sabbath. He is dead.

God regards him as dead with Christ. Therefore, the believer in the death of Christ

dead to the law.

2). There were the first witnesses of the resurrection. (One)

The two Marys went ahead with love and concern for the Lord Jesus.

The women went to the grave

① “I went to see the grave” To see is to observe closely.

② “I went out to anoint him” I went out to take care of the body of Jesus.

One was Mary Magdalene, and the other was Mary the mother of James and Joseph.

2. Miraculous Events of the Resurrection (2-4)

There were miraculous events of the resurrection.

One). There was a “great earthquake”. (2) Earthquakes indicate that a historic cataclysm occurred.

This is one aspect of the resurrection of the dead in the last days.

History testifies to the most turbulent events of all time.

2). “Rolling out the stone” (2) This stone was not rolled for Christ, but for the eyewitnesses.

3). There were angels around the shining figure. (3)

They rolled stones for the witnesses. Angels are the Spirit of God who serves God by helping His people.

C. (Hebrews 1:4~14)

4). The watchmen were afraid. (4)

When the watchmen rolled the stone and saw the angels sitting on it, they trembled in fear and were like dead people.

3. Words of Resurrection (5-10)

Angels were messengers of God and looked like humans.

What the resurrection powerfully conveys is itself a message.

One). “Do not be afraid” (5)

Why you shouldn't be afraid

① God knows those who seek the Messiah. He is looking for those who seek diligently. (Matthew 7:7)

② Christ was crucified to save all people.

③ Christ has now risen from the dead and has conquered death.

2). “Come and see where he lay” (6), just as he said he was raised to life. (Matthew 16:21; 17:23...)

They confirmed the resurrection with their own eyes.

3). “Go quickly and proclaim the glorious tidings” (7)

Sharing the glorious news is essential. This is the greatest news in history. He was resurrected.

① The women obeyed. was the first witness.

② The first people the women had to tell were the disciples who were in despair.

③ The work of witnessing should proceed quickly.

4). “Are you in peace?” (9) It is a glorious encounter with Jesus.

What happens when you have a personal encounter with Jesus

① He said, “Are you in peace?” (9) This is a message to rejoice.

② “They took hold of their feet and worshiped them” (9) They worshiped with surprise, wonder, praise and reverence.

③ “Do not be afraid” (10)

* What God gives is not fear, but only power, love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

④ “Go to my brothers” (10)

* This mandate comes with glorious news. It was repeated because of its great importance.
