Matthew 4:23-25 / Balance
The news of Jesus spread throughout the region. The rumor was heard by everyone. Rich people, healthy people, and tall people all heard it. But they had no interest in Jesus. The rumor was not needed. Matthew 9:12 “When Jesus heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”
If you look at the people who came to Jesus after hearing the news, they are in need of help. The Gospel of Matthew explains this in detail: Matthew 4:24 'Reports of him spread throughout Syria, and people brought in all who were ill, those suffering from various diseases and sufferings, possessed by demons, and epileptics and paralytics. He healed me.' If you come to Jesus and be healed, you become very normal people.
1) If you want to do something, you have to make it completely your own and then run it.
2) The ministry must be consistent.
3) When preparing for the ministry, you must already prepare the necessary things.
4) The best model is the Lord's work in the Bible. Because Jesus' ministry focused on preaching the word and praying: Acts 6:4 ‘We will do nothing about praying and preaching the word.’ And Jesus’ ministry had balance in everything.
1. The work of Jesus is balanced in three ways.
1) Matthew 4:23 “Jesus went through all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues.”
In order to preach the gospel, Jesus travels throughout Galilee and teaches without any discrimination. And I gathered all my strength to teach: John 14:26 'The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of all that I have said to you;' 1 John 2:27 'You have received from the Lord. The anointing abides in you, and there is no need for anyone to teach you, but his anointing teaches you all things and is true and is not a lie, just as he has taught you, so abide in the Lord.' .
2) Matthew 4:23 ‘Preaching the gospel of the kingdom.’
He preached the gospel of the kingdom. Mark 1:38 "He said to them, "Let's go to other nearby villages, and we will preach there too, for this is why I came." Jesus came to this earth to preach. However, at some point in the Korean church, evangelism is disappearing.
3) Matthew 4:23 “He healed every disease and every weakness among the people.”
The Bible is balanced like this, but today we are not as balanced as the Bible.
2. The beginning, middle, and end of Jesus' ministry were balanced.
At the beginning of his ministry, he went about preaching the gospel and healing: Matthew 4:23 “Jesus went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every disease among the people.”
In the midst of his ministry, he went about preaching the gospel and healing: Matthew 9:35 'Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and disease;' Luke 13 :10 'When he taught in a synagogue on the Sabbath.'
Even at the end of his ministry, Jesus did not change: Luke 13:32 “Go and say to the fox, today and tomorrow I will cast out demons and heal people, and on the third day I will be complete.”
All you have to do is obey and live as the Lord has done.
3. Balance is shown in beautiful growth.
3 John 2 “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, as your soul prospers.” If the ministry is not balanced, it is difficult to grow. What the church needs to restore is the power of God. Matthew 4:24 “Reports of him spread throughout Syria, and people brought in all who were ill, those with various diseases and ailments, those who had demons, those who had epilepsy, and those who were paralyzed, and they healed them.”
The church should be a place where people who have given up in the world find meaning in an empty world, relieve suffering in a suffering world, heal sickness in a sick world, teach the truth, and find true comfort in a lonely and lonely world. The church should be a place that can solve what the world cannot solve. The church must find a balance in the world as well.
I bless you in the name of the Lord that you may find balance in your life today as an individual, as a family, as a church, and as a nation.
