Matthew 6:5-15 When praying~~~ Topic: 14. Prayer. 2011. 5. 1.

Introduction

: Prayer is the greatest act of a believer, and speaking to God with the mind or tongue is a way of communion with God.

Praying, praying often, and praying without ceasing are essential for every believer.

1. The right motive for prayer. (5-6)

The Lord's concern is not what we pray (facts), but how we pray.

It can be a prayer that you pray but never hears from God, that is, you are talking to yourself.

1) Motives for prayer (parable of two people) (5)

① Wrong motive: A prayer to show people (5) - A hypocrite.

* The places you like to pray are standing (pride) inside the church, in front of the public, on the street (public places).

* Those who pray publicly receive their reward.

② Right motive: Prayer to the Father (6) - A true son.

2) “In prayer” (6)

You must have the will to pray. You should set aside time to pray alone.

Note: Prayer is not a prayer that people hear, but a prayer that God hears in secret.

* Because God sees in secret.

The meaning of “secret” is ① concentration of mind (meditation, etc.) ② solitude and private ③ belief that we are together.

Precautions for prayer (negative factors)

① It can be hypocritical.

② It can become habitual.

③ It can be related to any place.

④ It can be meaningless repetition.

⑤ It may be too long.

⑥ It can be self-congratulatory.

⑦ It can be self-deceptive.

2. Three important principles of prayer. (7-8)

1) Don't gossip. (7)

This is not to say that prayer is repeated, but it is wrong to repeat it without meaning.

Talking too much in vain, using a lot of phrases, saying meaningless things.

2) Don't talk too much. (7)

God does not listen according to the length of prayer, but He hears prayers after seeing the heart pouring out to God.

There are cases where a long airway is required.

* Strong attraction (Acts 16:25), until there is certainty that special needs will be met (Ephesians 6:18, Acts 12:5), and when unusual events or experiences are about to occur, experience (courage, conviction, power, faith, love) (Mt 4:1), sometimes when faced with great trials or temptations (Matt. 4:1-11), and sometimes when a problem or important decision needs to be made (Acts 13:2). have.

3) Trusting God (obligatory). (8)

① God knows a believer's needs before he even asks them.

② God wants to hear. (Romans 8:23-27, 28-39)

③ God has ordained the system of prayer in order to be blessed and to be practiced among people.

(Mt 6:5-6) 1 Thessalonians 5:15-22; Isa 26:3-4; Jeremiah 17:7-8)

3. An example of prayer. (9-13)

The Lord's Prayer is not to be recited, but is an exemplary prayer that should be fully offered with its meaning.

Prayer

① Fellowship with God (9)

②Submission to God (9)

③Supplication and petition to God (10)

④ It is to acknowledge and praise God ((9~10,13).

Note: God is everything and man is nothing. A person who is totally dependent on God is ready to present his needs to God.

“Heavens” to the heavens ① Atmosphere (Matthew 6:26: Birds in the air”) ② The outer space of the heavenly bodies (Matthew 24:29; Revelation 6:13)

③ The spiritual world, the world of another dimension of existence, is the place where God's presence is fully revealed.

“Our Father” implies that the believer and God are family relationships. This is the first point of prayer.

“Hallowed be your name” God is to be regarded as holy and treated as holy.

“Your kingdom come.” May the kingdom of God come to this very place on this earth.

“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” Here

① It means that you will take on the part you are in charge of.

② To make all the sacrifices.

③ It means that we will not be displeased with what God is doing.

“Give us our daily bread” and the believer goes to God in prayer every day and teaches them to trust that God is the One who will meet their needs.

“Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”

① Asking for forgiveness for the light of sin.

② Asking for forgiveness of debts of guilt or punishment.

③ He asks for forgiveness for one's sins as if he had forgiven others.

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”

① Pray that God will protect you from the dreadful pull of temptation.

② Pray for God to deliver you from evil.

“The kingdom and the power and the glory are forever.” God is the source, owner, and receiver of the kingdom, power, and glory.

4. The basic principle of prayer (forgiveness). (14-15)

God can forgive only as long as the impurity of mercy and forgiveness is discovered. Therefore, the Lord taught the basic principle of prayer, forgiveness.

1) Promise: If you forgive others, you will be forgiven too.

It teaches the necessity of forgiveness of sins, that forgiveness is the greatest thing in the world, and that there is only one way to be forgiven.

2) Warning: If you refuse to forgive others, you will not be forgiven either.

To have a bad feeling toward another person clearly proves that he is not justified in his relationship with God.
