Chuseok] Meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival (Col 3:15) Demand

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body, and be thankful.”

The day after tomorrow is the rich Chuseok, the national holiday of our nation.

No matter how annoying and difficult we are living in a world where there is nothing to laugh about, I hope that it will be a season where we can share spiritual joy and gratitude with a bright smile and generosity like the round moon floating in the sky on Chuseok.

Among the greatest festivals in Israel are the Passover and the Feast of Ingathering. It is a festival to commemorate the exodus of the people from slavery for 400 years with God's dramatic help from a national crisis.

Remembering God who led us out of Egypt, He made Joshua finally conquer the land promised through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and given to the Israelites through Moses. It was the "Feast of Ingathering" to give thanks for the first harvest by sowing in the pooran lands that they had now conquered, although they had the necessary food.

Therefore, the "Chuseok" we observe is a national holiday that we should spend in the spirit of Thanksgiving, which we have kept in the spirit of Thanksgiving, which we have kept in the spirit of harvesting the fruits of our hard work in the fall, thanking God for the abundant fruit, and keeping it.

At the same time, it has something in common with Israel's Feast of Ingathering in that it is regarded as a gift of God and ancestors and has a grateful heart.

Today's text says, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body, and be thankful."

Today, by examining the true meaning and spiritual lessons of Chuseok, a holiday of thanksgiving and blessing, we are going to try to find out what to give thanks with during Chuseok.

1. Chuseok is a season to visit.

This is true of any holiday, but Chuseok is a season to visit home and miss your hometown even more.

It is a season to visit hometown, meet parents, share joy with brothers, visit the graves of ancestors, clean grass, and share warm affection with neighbors. In other words, they visit their parents and siblings in their hometown to repay the favor they received.

So, saying, "It's okay to take two days. It's okay to take three days. The road to my hometown is just good," and they make a large national migration, taking many times more time than usual, on the road to their hometown, which is reminiscent of a parking lot.

I also decided to go to my mother-in-law's house on Chuseok after 18 years of marriage. The day before Chuseok was the funeral service for the father-in-law... I never went.

Our hearts to visit our hometown on Chuseok are the beginning of gratitude.

It is not that we do not have the conditions to be thankful, but that we do not have the heart to give thanks is called depravity and disease.

Because the Puritans moved to the United States not to find food and clothing, but to serve God better and seek freedom of faith, they first built a church and kept the spiritual internal Thanksgiving before material things.

Hebrews 13:15 says, “Therefore let us always offer to God a sacrifice of praise through Jesus, which is the fruit of lips that testify of his name.” Says.

The joy of the saints should be an expression of gratitude and blessing for the grace of salvation bestowed through Jesus Christ. No joy can compare with the joy of passing from death to life.

People have not only their physical homeland, but also a hometown where they were before I came into this world. It is the "Kingdom of God". Our hometown is that "Kingdom of God", and we are all 'pilgrims' to that place.

Therefore, Peter said, "I urge you, as strangers and passersby, to be sober and watchful and long for the kingdom." The Apostle Paul also said, "I have Roman citizenship, but it does not mean much to me. I have," he boasted.

The journey of Abraham, the father of faith, who left his hometown and lived a stranger's life following God's guidance is the journey of our saints.

I don't know when, but we too will leave this world once and go to Heaven, our eternal dwelling place.

Just as Abraham longed for a better homeland and lived, we long for the eternal city of Zion, Heaven, and we are grateful and wish that we can live.

One day, when the veil of our bodies ends, we too will go to the eternal kingdom of the Lord. I earnestly wish that all of us long for that country and prepare for it.

2. Chuseok is the season when fruits appear.

Autumn is the 'season of fruits'. Let's have a heart of gratitude through fruit.

In John 15, there is a parable of the vine.

“You can by no means bear fruit apart from me.”

“Unless a branch is attached to the vine, it cannot bear fruit in its own right.”

These words told us how to bear fruit and how important it is.

We earnestly hope that our members will bear fruit and glorify God.

Among them, I hope that God can be glorified by producing the fruit of self-control.

Temperance is the brake of life. If you are speeding on the highway, apply the brakes to slow down. When excessive greed arises on the path of life and you overdo it on something, you need to restrain yourself and reduce your greed.

If an obstacle appears in front of a moving vehicle, apply the brake to stop. If you have a big problem in your life, you have to be temperate and stop doing it.

Just as brakes are essential for cars, so do our lives. That is the brake of that life is moderation.

Guys, have you ever heard that a pig ate too much and died due to a ruptured stomach? However, there are too many people who can't control what they eat and are getting sick and dying from being overweight.

Have you ever heard of an ant that overworked and fell over? But too many humans collapse or even die from overwork.

Have you ever heard of a monkey being treated for alcohol poisoning? But too many humans are being treated for alcoholism, drug addiction, and other addictions.

I've never heard of any animals that have committed suicide because they couldn't live. However, there are too many people who commit suicide because it is difficult for them to live.

That's right. There is a problem with the brakes in life. After Adam and Eve's fall and were expelled from the Garden of Eden, the brakes in life do not work as intended. So when you hit the brake it doesn't slow you down. The car does not stop properly even when the brakes are applied. Most of the time, the problems in our lives arise right here.

The meaning of the word temperance is ‘adjust yourself appropriately.’

That's right. No matter how good you say it is, it is good if it is in moderation, but if it is excessive, it will be harmful. If you take too much medicine, it becomes poison. Even if you exercise for health, if you overdo it, you will get sick. So you need to cut it. Because you have to adjust everything to suit you.

Resilience is never easy. Temperance training is necessary just as athletes train thoroughly to compete.

Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:7-8:

“Only practice to attain godliness. Physical exercise is of little benefit, but godliness is beneficial in all things, and there is promise in this life and in the life to come.”

It is said that while it is beneficial for athletes to train physically, training in godliness is more beneficial than that.

This means that training is necessary for temperance. And if this training is done properly, it will be of great benefit.

Also, on Chuseok, let's check whether we have lived by faith. When I stand before the judgment seat with my present self before God, are there fruits of faith, evangelism, service and devotion that are praiseworthy?

Above all, how much effort did you put in to bear the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit and live a life that bears the fruits of self-control?

On Chuseok, we should give thanks to God for the grace of allowing parents and siblings, and reflect on whether we have lived as an opportunity to be filial to our parents and to strengthen friendship between brothers and sisters.

How can a person who cannot love his visible brother and parents love the invisible God?

What is the meaning of a child who abandons his living parents like a devoted mate, and no matter how many times he bows down hundreds of times after having his upper leg broken because he is serving his ancestors during the holidays, what is the meaning, and what is the use of blood and blood?

It is a blessing to give warmth to living parents.

Sharing food with love and caring for each other is more what parents want and what ancestors want.

This will also be the “image of the saints living in heaven.”

Dear saints, We need brakes in our lives.

Sometimes you'll be speeding. You need to brake properly.

Sometimes obstacles appear in a hurry. You have to hit the brakes hard.

But what about our brakes? Does it work?

Are you good at controlling your appetite? Are you good at controlling your lust for fame?

Are you good at controlling your lust for power? The time will come when we will all stand before the judgment seat just as there is a harvest time in the autumn before the Lord.

In order to bear the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit and especially the fruits of temperance, I ask you to thoroughly train ourselves through the church life.

I hope you have a good Chuseok. <Amen>
