Title Mon 8-19
Apostle Paul's second wish for Philemon is that he send Onesimus back to the Apostle Paul altogether. We can sense its subtle meaning in several places in his writings. In verse 11, the Apostle Paul already said that Onesimus was a "good" to him, in verse 12 he called him a servant, and in verse 13 he said, "I want him to remain with me, so that he may serve me instead of you in prison for my gospel." And what is decisive is the fact that the Apostle Paul said in verse 21, “I write to you because I am sure of your obedience, and I know that you will do more than I have said.” Specifically, what is the meaning of the latter part of the sentence, "I know that you will do more than I have said"? What would it be if Philemon not only forgives and accepts Onesimus, but also sends him back to the apostle Paul as his co-worker?
God is a wonderful changer in our lives. If we accept the gospel and accept Jesus Christ, our lives can be changed like Onesimus. And furthermore, like Paul, we too can be used as God's tools to change our lives. We should not be discouraged in any adverse circumstances or unfortunate reality of life. There is a God who changes lives.
