Title Necessity of Baptism (Matthew 28:16-20)
Contents There are certain ceremonies in any nation, in any country. Through the ceremony, we can learn about the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of that nation. There are several ceremonies in the church, and among them, baptism explains the basic meaning of the essence of our Christianity and what Christians should do. Baptism and the Lord's Supper in our church today are referred to as sacraments, that is, 'holy rites'. In particular, baptism is a command from God that the Bible shows us, so it is imperative that we do it. Baptism is a special ceremony that the Bible shows us, and we want to learn valuable lessons by examining the types and meanings of baptism at this time.
1. Types of baptism Baptism includes water baptism and fire baptism. Water baptism is baptism by spraying water on the head and forehead. Fire baptism refers to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. is to receive. In principle, water baptism is given to those who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the evidence of faith that we confess that we are sinners before the Lord and receive salvation through the merits of Jesus. No matter how well-informed and clever he may be, whoever does not confess Christ as their Savior is not worthy of baptism.
2. Method of baptism There are baptism, irrigation, and sprinkling methods. Baptism literally means 'to immerse in water', and irrigation means 'to fill the whole body' and involves spraying water on the whole body. and sprinkling means spraying water on the forehead or head. However, it is important to know that baptism (water baptism) has nothing to do with salvation. In other words, baptism is not a means of salvation, but a means of grace. When you are baptized, your heart becomes warmer, your heart for the Lord is on fire, and you draw closer to the Lord. If you receive baptism with excitement, you will receive more grace.
