Sermons for Preaching

title new man

Contents

The work of God changes us, and in order to do that, we must be born anew in Jesus Christ. That is, the old man dies and the new man is put on.

Therefore, the Apostle Paul said, “Put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness and holiness of truth” (Ephesians 4:22-22). 24) said.

The word "new man" is used in different ways in the Bible.

for example

① Those who have been born again (John 3:1-6): These are the words that Jesus spoke to Nicodemus and refer to those who are born again of water and the Spirit.

② People of God (1 Timothy 6:11): These are the words Paul said to Timothy, and it refers to people who belong to God and live for God as God’s own.

③ People of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5-6): Those who walk after the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), those who are led by the Spirit (Galatians 5:18), those who live by the Spirit (Galatians 5:25), for the sake of the Holy Spirit It is expressed as a planter (Galatians 6:8).

Although the expressions above are different, they mean those who are born again and become a new person, belong to God, become a new person, and receive the Holy Spirit and become a new person.

Their common denominator is that first, they have been saved, second, they live for the Lord, and thirdly, they have hope in heaven.

When Peter put on a new man, a fisherman became a fisher of men.

When Paul put on the new man, he became a martyr from a persecutor.

As Wesley wore a new person, a person who failed in missionary work to the American continent in 1737 evangelized 100,000 people in corrupt British society and became the founder of the Methodist Church.

We all need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Wesley's faith opened his eyes to a new world as he experienced the work of the living God through the experience of Aldersketch and a faith meeting in London on January 1, 1739.

Therefore, today's Methodists should respect the filling of the Holy Spirit and a godly life. If you reject a godly life and being filled with the Holy Spirit, you are neither a Christian nor a Methodist in the true sense of the word.

In John 3:1-8, Jesus said to Nicodemus who came to him in the middle of the night, “A man must be born of water and of the Spirit.”

That's right.

Only when people are born again of water and the Spirit can they be resurrected with a spiritual body and enter the kingdom of God. It is not about wealth, social status, or knowledge. Although Nicodemus lacked wealth, position, knowledge, or lack of knowledge, Jesus told him that he must be born again of water and of the Spirit.

Dear Shepherd Church members, on Wesley Conversion Sunday, we must all be born again of the Holy Spirit. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit
