Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17

new person

A certain grandfather was evangelized at the age of 80 and went to church for the first time and was baptized. Two years after baptism, when it was time to die, someone came to me and asked, “How old are you?” He said, “I am two years old now.” The old man's life was 80 years as the old person and 2 years as the new person.

According to the Bible, a person who is born again by the Word and the Holy Spirit is called a new person. The old man is the offspring of the sinner Adam, and the new man is the man who received the righteous Jesus as the Savior and was saved. A new person is a person who starts a new life with a new heart and new thoughts. You can live a new life by singing a new song. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Who is the new man?

A new person is a person with a new heart.

Wearing new clothes doesn't make you a new person. You have to change your mind to become a new person. He is a born-again person.

“Do not be conformed to this generation, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2). This generation is a fallen human nature that speaks and acts according to its own inclinations. A new person is a person with a new heart who has been changed by renewing his or her heart. The new man discerns what is pleasing to God.

In an elementary school in England, there was a naughty boy with bad conduct. The boy was a troubled child who was assaulted and robbed of money, and he couldn't get him to go to school. Eventually, the homeroom teacher called the boy's mother to the school and notified him of expulsion. “This child is no longer educated.”

The mother cried and pleaded for relief. I was really sympathetic. “Then will you take responsibility for your son?” At that time, the mother did not answer quickly. Because so far, I have received countless promises, but all of them have been in vain. Then a boy named Tom raised his hand and said, "I'll take responsibility." Then the teacher asked, "Do you know what it means to be responsible?", "Yes. If my friend does something wrong, I will be punished for it.”

Tom took his troubled friend's hand and knelt down in prayer. The troublemaker was impressed by his friend Tom. After that, the violent boy became very docile. The boy followed Tom to church and studied theology. He dedicated his life as a missionary to Africa.

David prayed, “Renew in me a righteous spirit” (Psalm 51:10). A false spirit makes a false man, and an honest spirit makes an honest man. Samuel said, “Let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingdom” (1 Samuel 11:14). A new heart can renew both the family and the country. Let's renew our hearts and renew our homes and churches!

A new person is a person who has had a change of heart. God has given Saul a new heart, just as God said to Saul, “The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you greatly, and you too will prophesy with them and be changed into a new person” (1 Samuel 10:6, 9).

God-given “a new heart made the king. His heart became proud and he lost his new heart, and he was cast out of the throne.

“The Lord Jesus came into my heart and then changed and became a new person and I found the true light I always wanted. It has become whiter/ Lord Jesus come into my heart Lord Jesus come into my heart As the water flows, my heart overflows with joy, the Lord Jesus comes into my heart” (Hymns 289)

The new man is a free man.

“Christ set us free to set us free; therefore, stand firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1). But freedom is not indulgence. Freedom is in the law and indulgence is outside the law.

The Israelites were freed by the Exodus. In the Old Testament, freedom is a right relationship with God. Freedom in faith is freedom from sin, Satan, and disease through Jesus Christ.

There was a bad boy named Yu Tae-rang in Japan. Worried by everyone who sees it, he was arrested for murder and arson when he was 18 and was serving a life sentence in prison. Every day he thought about escaping. He was grinding his teeth saying he was going to kill the judge who sentenced him to life imprisonment.

One day, a publisher came to the escapee. It was the preaching of Jesus to the murderer. He received Jesus, was baptized, and was baptized with the Holy Spirit. The fire of the Holy Spirit ignited my heart that was burning with hatred. He confessed his sins and turned around and became a new person. The joy of the soul freed from the bondage of sin was full.

Seeing that one of the prisoners was suffering from severe boils, Yoo Tae-rang sucked the pus out of his mouth. People who saw this were moved and both of you believed in Jesus. The fire of evangelism spread in the prison, and more than 200 people came to believe in Jesus. It is the fruit of evangelism that has emerged as a new person by transforming one vicious criminal. A new person does a new job.

The concept of freedom is not something I do my own way. Freedom from the bondage of sin, freedom from fear. I always insist on the four freedoms.

Spiritual freedom/ To be free from sin and Satan.

To be a member of a politically free/free democratic state.

Freedom of health / I am a free person who lives in good health without getting sick.

Financial freedom/ Living in abundance without being poor.

Freedom as a Christian is freedom to do what I ought to do, not to do what I want. Christian liberty is not liberty to follow instinct or lust, but liberty to do what ought to be done and not to do what ought not to be done.

Lazarus died and was buried. His dead body was bound. He is “a type of a sinner who is dead in trespasses and sins.” Lazarus who died is an old man. The Lord is Lazarus, come out! Lazarus from the tomb is a new man, Lazarus. Lord, let the ropes that bind Lazarus go loose! You said. He was truly a free man.

Dayan said, “Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.” Freedom is like oxygen. You cannot live without oxygen. To live without freedom is not to live. That's why they cry out for freedom or death. May you become a new person with freedom.

The new person is a peacemaker.

A new person is one who has peace within himself and is a peacemaker. Discord is the path to mutual cooperation and destruction, and peace is the path to coexistence and coexistence.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9) The peacemakers are children of God and new people. Those who make peace are not square. Shalom is round like a full moon. He is round like the sun by day and like the moon by night.

The peace the Bible speaks of is not the absence of war. Where God's will and justice are realized, there is peace. Therefore, Israel has always fought for God's will to be done and justice to be done. These wars were taught and called holy wars. “War and Peace” War is only necessary for true peace. Where there is justice, there is peace. The new man is not a smart man, but a peacemaker.

Cicero said, "I choose the most unjust peace over the most just war." I hope that you will become a new person who can read the atmosphere and create justice and peace in any situation.

Francesco prayed, “Lord, make me an instrument of peace, love where there is hatred, forgiveness where there is hurt, unity where there is division, faith where there is doubt”. The world needs people who make peace. “Lord, give me an instrument of peace!” This prayer should be our prayer.

We need to think about how to unite division and confrontation, conflict and tension, and hate and hatred. You must become a farmer of peace who plows gravel fields, gives stones, pulls thorns, sows seeds of peace, and reaps the fruits. The enemy the devil sows the seeds of discord while we sleep, causes divisions and destroys them.

“Pursue peace for Jerusalem. Prosper will be those who love Jerusalem. Peace will be in your city, and prosperity in your courts. Now I will say for my brothers and my friends: Peace be among you, for the house of the LORD our God, I will bless you ” (Psalm 122:8-9) Where there is peace, God is, and where God is, heaven is.

What would you like to hear? We need to be told that “the person has changed” and “they have become a new person.” “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Those who believe in Jesus, the one sent by God, are saved. It is a heart given by God, a new heart given by the Holy Spirit. The new man is a free man.

freed from sin. A person who lives by singing new songs. Everything about me has changed and I am saved by that blood! The new person lives by keeping the new commandments. “I give you a new commandment: Love one another, love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34).

The new person is a peacemaker. I have peace in my heart, and I am developing a peace movement.

New people are not discouraged. “Therefore, we do not lose heart, for though our outward man is growing old, but the inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).

“Put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit, but be renewed in spirit, and put on the new man, which after God was created in righteousness and holiness of truth” (Ephesians 4:22 -24)

Let's make a fresh start as a new person!
