Title Noah's Mistake (Genesis 9:20-29)
Contents
The Bible does not exalt any one human being as a hero and exalt him like a god. If the Bible is a biography of a great man and a hero in the world, not only his public life but also his private life will be glorified. However, the Bible thoroughly records the sins and mistakes of man, showing that only God is true, that all human beings are bound to die innumerable due to their trespasses and sins, and that only God is the savior. Noah was definitely a hero of his time. But that Noah was just a person who made a lot of mistakes.
The person who was saved from the Great Flood, he is definitely a successful person and a victor. Even in a sinful world, he was a righteous man, a perfect man, and a man who walked with God. But he was not a god either. You should not expect anything divine from anyone. Humans are always just humans.
Noah overcame the judgment of Noah's flood and came out of the ark to grow grapes. Thanks to God's blessing, the farming went well, and I think that a good harvest and a lot of harvest were obtained. Noah drank wine and fell asleep naked. Even if he was drunk, he was not usually drunk, he was so drunk that he fell asleep without knowing that he had taken off his clothes.
This drunken mistake put Noah himself to shame. And he showed shame to his sons. He also cursed his second son, Ham. The father cursed his son. Look at verse 25. "Then he said, Cursed is Canaan, that he may become the servant of his brother's servants."
After winning, Noah made a mistake after harvesting what he worked hard for.
Be careful after winning. You have to be more careful about your rest time than when you work hard. The Bible tells us to be careful not to fall when doing seotda.
It takes a long time for a person to build his humanity, but it doesn't take long for him to break down and fail. Noah, who had been walking with God for over 600 years and was given the title of a righteous man, made a mistake and collapsed in an instant.
Saints! You have to be good at the beginning, but always better later and better later. Life is a success only when the last years are good. I hope you all become like that.
1. Even Noah is a person who can make mistakes.
As we have already looked at in detail through Genesis 6:9, "Noah was a righteous man, a perfect man in his time, and a man who walked with God." Noah was a man who could make mistakes just like us.
Anyone can make mistakes. Those who pray should also be careful. Even confident people should be wary. Those who have lived their lives without making any mistakes in their lives should also be careful. We should always watch and pray and stay away from things that could possibly make a mistake. And if there is someone around us who made a mistake, we should cover that mistake before laughing and criticizing it. In particular, pray for each other and hold on to your weaknesses so that your husbands and wives and parents and children do not make mistakes. And if I make a mistake, I hope I can cover it up.
And the person who makes a mistake shouldn't act as if it was all over with one mistake. You have to have the mindset that "I could make a mistake". You are human because you make mistakes, how can you feel humanity in someone who never makes a mistake? Isn't it?
We have to work hard not to make a mistake, but when we make a mistake, we should not be discouraged and be able to start over.
2. Why do you think Noah made a mistake?
1) It was because I was careless.
If you are vigilant, you will make a mistake, and if you are vigilant, you will fall. That's why there is a saying that you should not be vigilant. But when does the carelessness arise? It's time to let the tension go. Noah made a mistake when his spiritual tension was released. When the flood was over and there was peace, when there were no problems, the tension was relieved. When a person is freed, there is a problem.
When the world was evil, Noah was righteous. I have not done anything ethically flawed. He was perfect. I walked with God. So Noah always obeyed all the things God had commanded Noah before the flood (Genesis 6:22; 7:5).
When did Noah, who lived such a thoroughly God-centered life, make a mistake and fall? I made a mistake when the flood was over and I was living. As the number of descendants increased and the grape farming became more comfortable, he became drunk and became drunk. In a word, when the spiritual tension is relaxed, sin and mistakes are made.
Ladies and gentlemen, if we look at the history of an individual, a nation, or the entire human race, we must remember that at the very time when everything is going well and in peace, iniquity was proportionately prevalent. When there are hardships and hardships, we have no time to sin because we keep our minds upright. I seldom make a mistake because the spiritual tension increases.
2) Don't take it lightly as a drink.
The godly Noah would not have drunk wine to get drunk in the first place. Perhaps he was just trying to taste the wine once. But the careless Noah could not control himself as soon as he tasted the wine. And he got drunk and fell into a shameful and sinful state. In this way, the godly righteous Noah, the prophet of God, the overcomer of judgment, and the progenitor of the second human race, fell to the position of a humble and shameful sinner. His son mocked and condemned his father's shameful appearance, and the authority of God's servant fell to the ground.
I hope you don't trust your own temperance. There are many things that are hard to stop once you taste them.
The man who was walking with God was drunk and could not control his drinking. In the end, alcohol became the dominant person.
Who could have imagined that Noah, who had lived clean, pure, and righteous all his life, would be so disgraced at the end of his life? We must not get drunk. We cannot say that alcohol is a sin or that alcohol is evil. But one thing is certain: alcohol loses its ability to control itself and acts as a sinner. Why do we pray for our daily bread, and why do we need prayers for a godly life? Because it must keep us from all evil.
3) The scalability of mistakes should not be overlooked.
Mistakes often lead to other mistakes. And rather than admitting our mistakes, we try to cover up our mistakes by making someone else a scapegoat. I am trying to escape that responsibility. You don't know how often you end up making even bigger mistakes.
David, after making the mistake of committing the mistake of committing Uriah's wife Bathsheba, did not immediately repent, but instead tried to atone for Uriah's sin and atone for it. David and Bathsheba's crime did not end with them, but ultimately resulted in the death of the first child born to David and Bathsheba.
Noah's mistakes did not stop with his own disgrace. Not only did Noah get drunk with the sweet taste of wine and make the mistake of revealing his ugly appearance to his children, but he also cursed his second son Ham for not hiding his shameful appearance. As a result, Ham and his descendants I have been subjected to brutal discrimination for a long time.
If Noah was drunk with wine and made a mistake, he had to reflect on himself first. Before blaming their children, they had to humbly admit their mistakes and repent before God and others. It is not the job of an adult to blame only the infidelity of their children without reflecting on their mistakes.
Therefore, we must not only watch and pray at all times so as not to make a mistake, but we must also thoroughly guard against the possibility of temptation. And even if you make a mistake, you need to make the decision to cut off a mistake from one mistake so that the mistake does not lead to another mistake and a bigger one.
3. There is a clear reason for God to record Noah's mistakes in such detail.
Take a look at Romans 15:4. ?쏻hatever was written before was written for our instruction, that we may have hope, either with patience or with the comfort of the Scriptures.??
God wrote down Noah's mistakes not to shame Noah, but to make us aware of the weakness of the flesh today. Even the Lord Jesus said, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Mark 14:38). Also, Galatians 2:16 says, "There is no flesh by which the works of the law are justified."
People can make mistakes. God will forgive our mistakes. But the important thing is not to make the same mistake over and over again. If I make a mistake, I need to reflect deeply on why I made the mistake. And if you make a mistake, you must repent. So next time you have to make a commitment not to make the same mistake again. In doing so, we believe that we will be able to reduce our mistakes more and more and be freed from them.
