Volunteer Qualifications

Numbers 8:1 26

Working for God is not something that anyone with the ability to do. Only those with certain qualifications can do the Lord's work. Today's passage describes the ordinances necessary for the Levites to serve in the tabernacle. Today we do not practice these rituals, but the spirit that hides in them must be preserved. You can realize what qualifications you need to do God's work.

First, you must know God.

Before explaining the sanctification ceremony of the ministers of the tabernacle, Moses first orders the lampstand to be lit in the temple. No light could enter the tabernacle unless the light was turned on. When you turn on the light, you can see everything inside the tabernacle. The tabernacle is the place of God's presence. All natural people cannot see God in their own power. Only when God shines light can we see God. The Lord is not pleased with those who do not know who God is. I don't want people who don't know God to donate. Giving is a confession of faith that everything belongs to God. When an unbeliever makes a donation, he thinks he has helped God. We should not entrust the Lord's work to people who do not know God because they are good at music or have other talents.

The first thing God requires of us is not to do anything for the Lord, but to know who God is.

“Jesus answered and said to them, “The work of God is that you believe in him whom he has sent” (John 6:29).

Second, we must be sanctified.

The Levites were sanctified before they served in the tabernacle. First, they sanctified their bodies. I washed with water and shaved my body with a razor to make it clean. verse 7

Through the sacrifice, sins were cleansed. 8-13

For those who do God's work, cleanliness is more important than ability. There are people who practice lawlessness and do the Lord's work in the world and succeed, but they will never be praised before God. God uses holy vessels.

“In a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also wooden vessels and earthen vessels, some of which are of noble use and others of lowly use. be prepared for work” (2 Timothy 2:20-21).

The people of the world are morally flawed, and even if they are evil, they use them if they have power. However, no matter how powerful God is, he does not use unclean people. We must cleanse ourselves before God. Jesus didn't use educated people, he used simple fishermen.

Third, the attitude of giving the best

I served in the temple when I was 25-50 years old, and 25-29 years old was an apprenticeship. In order not to make mistakes in the work of the tabernacle, I worked in the golden age of my life. After retiring, he taught the Bible to his descendants. You should also consider the abilities you are given.
