Title Oh! Lord, I need you
The text is a record of the encounter between Jesus and the tax collector Levi. Levi's occupation was a publican. From the Jewish point of view, the publican is a pawn for Rome. In the case of Korea, under the Japanese colonial rule, Korean police officers or high-class elder brothers were the object of hatred and contempt by the land people. It is a sinner in the words of the Jews. He is not a criminal who violated the positive laws such as murder, arson, theft, and assault, but a criminal who betrayed the religious laws, morals, ethics, and conscience of the Jews at the time. Why did they not know that Levi and his companions were sinners who were pointed at them? His physical life may have been easy, but his soul must have always been tormented by uneasy guilt.
Jesus called Levi, and Levi got up and followed Jesus. And he invited Jesus to his house and had a great feast. When Jesus entered the house of sinners and saw that he ate, drank, and hung out with them, the Pharisees denounced him as “a glutton and wine drinker, a friend of sinners and tax collectors” Matthew 11:19. Regarding this, Jesus said, “Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” What a thank you!
2. What is the relationship between the sick and the doctor?
First, the sick seek a doctor. There are different kinds of bottles. There are various diseases corresponding to otolaryngology, internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, urology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, psychiatry, etc. The sick person first suffers physically and becomes weak. And I'm terrified of dying. That's why I'm looking for a doctor.
Second, the sick confess their illness in detail to the doctor. A sick person must confess to the doctor the history of his or her illness. When did you get sick, what are the current symptoms, and whether it is hereditary in the family. The doctor digs into the unknown. If there is something hidden here for reasons of shame or other reasons, you will not receive proper treatment.
Third, the sick will be healed quickly when they absolutely obey the doctor's prescription. The doctor prescribes prescriptions, gives medicines, and tells the sick to be careful, such as to rest, not to blow in the morning wind, not to drink alcohol, and not to eat meat. When the sick follow the doctor's instructions, they can quickly regain health and live an active life.
A healthy person does not need a doctor. Sick people need a doctor. I really need it. In some cases, it is a cold or something, but it escalates to a fatal incurable disease and death. The sick person is anxious and anxious, unable to sleep in fear, and after the doctor sees all the test records, < OK. Fine. Don't worry! > You can be at peace when you do.
3. What is the relationship between me, a sinner, and Jesus?
First, I am a sin-sick person. The similarities between sin and sickness are very clear. Just as sickness suffers physically and mentally and stumbles in fear, so does the sinner. When you sin, you first become mentally afraid, ashamed, tormented, avoiding people, and insecure. If you do that, your appetite will disappear, the rhythm of life will be broken, and you will become physically ill. How wonderful is the parable of our Lord, which contrasts the relationship between the sick man and the doctor to the sinner and the relationship between Jesus and Jesus.
If there is a person who has no anxiety, no reluctance, no fear, and is clean even if he looks deep into himself, that person is righteous. Therefore, such a person does not need Jesus at all. But when you look at your own life < ah! This is not the case, but if there is anxiety and irritability that I should not live like this, if there is a strong and strong conflict, hatred, lies, or guilt in the heart, such a person needs Jesus. I really need it. I need Jesus. We need Jesus more and more these days.
Second, I must confess all my sins, their signs, and their sinful nature. What was the first confession that our Lord, the doctor of sinners, made at the beginning of his public life? <The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel, Mark 1:15>. < I confessed my sins to You, and I did not hide my iniquities, but You forgave my iniquities. Psalm 32:5 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 A contrite heart You will not despise. Psalm 51:17 Also, Peter said, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). When I confess my sins individually and repent, my sins are forgiven. Only when my sins are forgiven can my soul be raised from the ugly, dirty, and terrifying death.
Third, those who believe in Jesus and repent are those who have their sins forgiven. The roof in Mark 2:5
