Title One man's obedience / Romans 5:12-21

Disobedience of one person vs. One man's obedience/Romans 5:12-21

1. The magnification of the destructive repercussions of one man's disobedience: vv. 12-14

Meteorologist Lorenz discovered that while analyzing meteorological phenomena, small differences that were initially insignificant could grow larger over time, resulting in huge differences in results. This butterfly effect theory has also been used to explain economic and social phenomena. The sub-prime mortgage crisis that started in Detroit, an American automobile industry city, has caused a ripple effect, bringing about a panic in the overall American economy and spreading into a global economic crisis. There are times when the butterfly effect also appears in our homes. There are times when a small word between family members can lead to a big conflict. The butterfly effect has not only the weather, natural phenomena, economy, and human relations, but also the spiritual butterfly effect in the spiritual aspect.

Adam ate the fruit of the forbidden fruit, which God forbade not to eat. If you think about it, Adam's eating of the forbidden fruit was a seemingly trivial and insignificant act. However, Adam's actions did not end with eating the forbidden fruit. Disobedience to the Word caused a wave of sin entering the world. Through Adam's sin, Adam was not the only one who entered into the influence of sin. Not only Adam and Eve, but all of his descendants came under the devastating effects of sin. Nature has also come under the destructive influence of sin. The whole world has come under the destructive influence of sin.

Through one man sin entered the world, and it was through that sin that all men died. Adam's disobedience to God's Word, but one seemingly insignificant and insignificant act, became the butterfly effect, and the spiritual destructive effect grew. Every lie we tell has a devastating effect on the other person. One act of dishonesty with money has a dishonest effect on society as a whole. That is why disobedience to the Word is spreading destructive repercussions throughout our homes and churches.

2. The cycle of grace and life through one man's obedience: verse 15

Romans 5:15 and below tell us how precious a person's obedience is. Through the obedience of one man, Jesus Christ, the “vicious cycle of sin, condemnation, and death” that destroys our lives has been broken. There is a vicious cycle of sin and destructive power that goes down in every family. The same goes for each individual. Some families have a vicious cycle of alcohol, some families have a vicious cycle of violence, some families have a vicious circle of gambling, and some families have a vicious cycle of hatred and separation. Through the work of the cross, Jesus broke the vicious cycle of sin and destructive forces that held our lives and set us free.

Therefore, we are no longer bound by the “sin-condemnation-death cycle”. Instead, through the “cycle of life and grace” because of Jesus' obedience, we enjoyed the cycle of grace and life of grace-life-response to worship. To believe in Jesus is to break free from the cycle of sin and death that Jesus broke for us, and to live in the “cycle of grace and life” that Jesus has opened to us all.

3. Expansion of the wavelength of life through one man's obedience: verse 19

Through the obedience of one man, Jesus Christ, the cycle of sin and death that had held us captive was cut off, and we were able to enjoy the cycle of grace and life instead. Jesus, who broke the vicious cycle of sin and death that hold us back through the obedience of one person, Jesus Christ, asks us who are enjoying the cycle of grace and life to live an obedient life of obedience to God's word like Jesus. . It is not to be a disobedient person like the first Adam, but to become a person who obeys the word of God like Jesus, the second Adam, and to live a life of precious obedience used to save many people.

First, obedience is action. Obedience is not something you do with your head or your emotions. Obedience is not something you do with your mouth. Obedience is an act of righteousness. Jesus also obeyed the Father's will by bearing the cross. Even today, when we obey our actions, our actions will have tremendous righteous repercussions. Obedience is like an apple seed in an apple. We can count the seeds in an apple, but we cannot count the many future apples hidden in the apple seeds. Likewise, it is difficult to even imagine the history of life that our actions in obedience to God's will will bring.

Second, obedience is continuous perseverance. It is difficult to obey when you do it a little. If you do it for a little bit, it becomes very difficult. That's why you try to obey, but you give up in the middle. However, obedience can only be endured only by overcoming obstacles. To endure to the end is true obedience.

Dear saints, when we win the battle with ourselves and obey to the end through our actions, God accomplishes a great work through our obedience. Through small obedience in the field of our life, the Lord accomplishes a tremendous work that we cannot know. Through obedience that seems insignificant, the great will of the kingdom of God, which we could not have imagined, is accomplished. I bless you in the name of Jesus that you may become saints who are used by the Lord through a life of obedience.

question and share

Let's share the experience of having difficulties due to a word I accidentally threw in my religious life, and the difficulties I experienced because I took the important moment lightly and did not obey the word.

Let's share concretely the spiritual experience of being freed from the vicious cycle of sin and destructive forces by believing in Jesus and restored to life.

Just as Jesus became the savior of all mankind by obedience to the cross with action and patience, let's pray together for our house church to be used in God's work of saving souls by obeying the Word.
