Title Only Words! (2 Peter 01:16-21)
Contents Last October 31st was a day worth commemorating historically. At the beginning of the 16th century, Catholicism in Europe as well as in Germany was in danger of falling into a swamp of corruption. A clerical sale was taking place, and churches and monasteries owned vast amounts of land. Even the economic world is insecure, so the farmers have high resentment against the church. At that time, it took more than 100 years to build St. Peter's Basilica in Rome at a huge cost, but it could not be completed. Pope Leo X started selling indulgences in 1506 to finance the construction of the cathedral.
Johan Tetzel, a monk and orator of the Dominican Church, gathered the people everywhere he went and shouted. “The church, which has now been given the authority to bind and loose, has opened the gates of heaven and hell. Anyone who buys indulgences will be forgiven of their sins right on your spot. With the sound of falling into the treasury, he will soon ascend to heaven." Many foolish and naive citizens and peasants bought indulgences because of this deception that goes against the essence of the gospel and that indulgences that are not in the name of Esu can forgive sins.
This protest against the corruption of the Holy See led to the birth of Protestantism through a bloody struggle. In the Catholic Church, the authority of the Pope was higher than the Bible, and all traditions other than the Bible were accepted as the standard of life of believers. In response, the Reformers said, "Let's go back to the Bible!" "Only the Bible alone!" (sola Scriptra!) shouted.
Even today, there are many cases where the Bible is misused as a means to satisfy human desires without trying to interpret the Bible purely and obey its words.
<Body>
1. What kind of book is this verse?
A. These words were not written by man, but were inspired by God.
Verse 21 here. strong contrast. This contrast is true and false, like rice and bran.
There are words that are the same as those made by human will. Verse 16--Following a cleverly crafted story.
2:1 These are the words of false prophets and false teachers. 2:3 "a word made out of covetousness" The prophet Jeremiah warned that Judah would be destroyed by Babylon because of sin. The false prophet is at peace, at peace. Every time they say something made up, they say, "I had a dream that God gave me, and you will be at peace, saying, listen. When they opened their eyes, they shouted peace and blessings. Jeremiah 23:28 says, "Thus says the LORD, The prophet who obtains a dream will speak it, and the prophet who receives my word will speak my words with sincerity."
The false prophet's words are dreams, chaff, and wind, but the prophet's words are the words of God, and are like wheat, a devouring fire, and a bat that breaks rocks. Even in the text, lies are said to be "a cleverly made story, but God's Word 1:4 says that it is a precious and exceedingly great promise."
Even today, there are so many places where the pulpit of the Word that is supposed to convey God's words for this age has become like a sack where people pour out only the good words and blessings! 2 Timothy 4:3 "The time is coming when people will not receive sound doctrine, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own interests, and will turn away from their ears and pursue myths." It is said that members flock to a church that speaks good words.
What is born of the flesh is flesh. Those who flock to beautiful words and sweet language are not children of God. The children of God are those who have been born again through the word of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. You must be transformed and grown up with those words, be loyal to the Lord and dedicate yourself to the church and the Lord's kingdom. Saints! Our Hanam Church pulpit, as well as essays, will have exciting stories and humor to tell you, but it doesn't end with people's words. It must be the voice of heaven that calls out from the midst of sin and leads us into the light.
B. These words are dark, but the jade is like a lamp.(19)
Darkness here means the spiritual ignorance of man who lives apart from God.
For a man who has fallen into sin to try to walk the path of God's salvation on his own is like driving a car without a headlight on a dark road at night. In Acts 13, just as El luma, who was blaspheming the gospel, was blinded by fog and darkness, and sought someone to lead, humans are immersed in darkness. So, first, they do not know themselves and the Creator who made the universe. Second, they do not know that they are sinners. Third, they are unaware of the wretchedness of being under the terrible judgment of God as a result of sin. Third, do not know the Lord of salvation.
John 1: The light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it - so he killed his only-begotten Son.
Therefore, we need the lamp of truth and the word of eternal life.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path!" Our members these days, especially young intellectual college students, do not read the Bible too much.
The Apostle Paul expressed worldly studies and philosophies as elementary studies. Gentlemen! How foolish it is to make known God and His high wills by the shallow knowledge, wisdom, and reasoning of men! Once upon a time, there was a philosopher named Aristotle, and it is not an exaggeration to say that there is no such philosopher on earth. However, such a brilliant scholar has deduced the existence of God, but somehow, God is the immovable mover. It is the prime mover that moves other things, and it is said to be something that does not move and cannot move.
Saints! There is no other light for this night, and there is no substitute for it. Also, the Word of God has nothing to complement. The Word itself is the lamp of our soul.
2. The method of unraveling these words should not be solved by a judge, but by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is not to be solved by one's own judgment. The word "Judges" refers to one's own wisdom and one's own interpretation of one's own opinion.
(1) You do not have to read the Bible one verse and only talk about the world.
Military chaplain in the military.
(2) You should not always emphasize only a part of the content of the Bible and give a sermon that is pleasant to listen to.
A beliefistic sermon that you can do. Preaching focused on blessing theory. It will all be solved privately.
(3) All things that are said in the Bible must be preached, and the believers must accept all the teachings of the Bible as the Word of God.
(4) Try to understand the Bible contextually.
A certain saint pretended, "Lord, how can I live today?" Matthew 27:5 "Judas threw the silver into the sanctuary, and went back, and hanged himself to death." Ah! I guess I got it wrong again.
Chuck! Luke 10:37 "He said to him, Go and do likewise."
When reading the Bible, we must discover God's will by examining the contexts before and after, not just looking at one verse. Also, the Bible testifies to each other here and there. If the Bible says that Jesus baptizes the dead, we need to see if there are other places that prove that statement. If you only see one army and misunderstand it, you must not know it as God's will. Therefore, it is good to read the Bible regularly.
(5) You must know that Jesus Christ is the key to unlocking the Bible.
John 5:39 "You search the scriptures, knowing that you have eternal life, and these scriptures testify of me." and that by believing ye may have life in his name." Therefore, as you read the Bible, you will long to see what kind of person Jesus Christ is.
(6) You must read under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who is the author of the Bible.
Heresy arises when you try to interpret it with your own knowledge. You must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
If we humbly ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit will come and guide you in the closet where you face the Bible.
John 16:13 "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth." In Catholicism, the right to interpret the Bible only belongs to the priests of the church and not to the common people, so believers only read the Bible and not interpret its meaning. did it So, in the past, believers were not allowed to read the Bible and all the Bibles were burned.
However, we, of course, believe that there is no great concern as long as the Holy Spirit who is beside the believer is the great teacher of truth, even if there are cases where believers are ignorant and misunderstand the Bible.
3. This horse must be careful until the day the Lord comes.
It is necessary to take heed until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
The day is the day of the Lord's Second Coming. That day is like the dawn of the knowledge of the Ras of God. Even if we still know the truth through the Bible, it is like turning on a lamp in a dark night and walking along the road, so we cannot see well from afar. What will happen in 1992 in this world because someone is spiritual, something is wrong if it is said that everything is clear to people. We only have limited light of knowledge.
But when that day comes! No more lights needed. As the night passes and the bright sun shines. Now we know as dimly as we see in a bronze mirror, but when the Lord, the Sun of Righteousness, comes, we will know everything face to face.
<Conclusion>
Until that day comes, we must pay attention to these words of the Bible and do not go any further.
Let's not ignore this idiot. Admit it, but don't be indifferent! Be interested, but don't be suspicious! The word to be careful is to read, listen to, and study these words every day, believe in them, Amen, and obey them.
Revelation 1:3 Blessed are those who read and hear the words of this prophecy, and those who keep the things that are read in them, for the time is near.
